I see you have a same problem as photographer w/ good camera, but lack artistic skill, fundamentally in composition and style. So get to understand "Art of Photography". For starters, either watch a few videos on topic you like or take lessons.
Practice makes perfect.

for a longer, more intricate evaluation of a complex scene, instead of a still, an animation should do way better

Yes, I totally get what you're on about and am also knowledgeable ( about how juridical and administrative systems operate and can interpret acts, clauses, contracts, etc., from my previous career working for gov.).
So, again, short interpretation of case as I observe it:
 "Customer" did pay for license to use "SaaS" for certain time period, which it had also been given access to, but at same time, that same "customer" then failed to either set-up, administer and/or maintain it's own system the way which should and would prevent "SaaS" to fail to operate and could cause damage in case of any unforeseeable accident (such as loss of connectivity or disruption in power grid distribution due to HW/mechanical malfunction as a consequence of natural occurrence like weather storm, earth quake... bla, bla, bla..."

Still, don't take mine or any other word solely for granted. Especially when in doubt and "is first advice perfectly suited for you. Seek more opinions, preferably from experienced and highly skilled professionals.
If you have an option, do consult your legal advisor.

This merely is MHO and hopefully a sound word to get you a bit faster over such unpleasant experience, going on towards brighter & better future.

as noted, PC can always connect via mobile "hotspot" (is already possible and have been doing it for ages)

btw as I'm aware and have read: every SW EULA resolves dev(s)/program creator(s) and provider(s) from any responsibility in all cases of mishap - there's simply no warranty their stuff works flawlessly on any machine! Fun fact of life. Most one can hope for is "money back" or some sort of compensation for product value, but none for damage(s). Unless it's a criminal act (specifically done w/ intention to cause harm or damage).

Does anyone have advice on how to create soft, overcast lighting with the cloud parameters? I'd like to recreate the lighting effects from a favorite HDRI of mine (or get close), but I keep getting some pretty strong direct sun shadows.
You control sun shadow sharpness w/ Sun Size parameter. From 0.01 (sharp) to 64 (soft).
With Clouds, control is enabled by turning on "Apply shadows from clouds".

Here's latest reveal: "Omniverse" going "Metaverse". So among standard stuff (visuals, RBD, sims) it's main plan and goal is having a digital double of real world to simulate & train AI, robots and whatnot, to virtually produce fully functional building before it's officially operational in reality. For architecture it starts w/ industrial buildings: factories, plants, assemblies, warehouses, terminals...

Color balance first, tone mapping last.

Start from BW, apply "zoning".

Trying to get thin film on clouds, I came up with few feature requests for your consideration:
- rotation & windspeed instead of XY/ XZ offsets (much simpler to control/animate)
- alphas & z-depth (masks, passes) for all Sky elements (for post or as a shader)
- optional extra detail (noise, vorticity, octaves...) (cheap higher fidelity texture results)
and some further quality of life improvements:
iridescent clouds & rainbows (basically colored contrails),
- sun rays,
- night sky...

and more after :)

basically no "Tone Mapping" on Camera Tag can be animated

or you could model a laser,
but note, since light source is "hard to find" & experimental bidir VCM engine is no longer available (+ I'm not aware, nor have I experimented to check, if there's any other new engine/tech in Corona for such cases), I'd expect "noise & long gone days"

We already had a couple of Q's about this here:
 Spot light beam angle and CoronaLight Directionality

Do as advised by TomG, there's no other way (for now).
