[Max] Resolved Bugs / UVW randomizer error

Hi
Something seems to have gone seriously wrong with CoronaUvwRandomizer map. Plugging the the same output to different slots yields different randomisation values. This is bonkers. Or am I going mad!?

Does anybody have a workaround to CoronaTonemapControl map not working with Kim-Amlan LUT ?

setup is: bitmap>camera map per pixel>corona tonemap control>corona shadow catcher mlt

all works as expected until Kim_Amlan LUT is used. then it falls apart.
Is there a list of LUTs that CoronaTonemapControl works with? and which it doesn't?

[Max] Feature Requests / image upscaling factor location

Hi Guys.
Congrats on yet another great release! But, since things can always get better...
Could you move "image upscaling factor" from "system settings" to VFB toolbar? Why? Because it takes too many clicks for something that keeps on getting changed (between 1 and 2) very, very often.
That would also be very natural place for the button(s), as the feature is entirely to do with VFB.

Yeah, DR render stuck on "cleaning up". Looking for the "go un-stick" button. 2.5h cleaning (and going) after successful 5000pix render.
Corona 1.7 (host and farm).

[Max] I need help! / LightMix bug

There is a BUG in the way LightMix includes other, unintended light sources in the Environment only LightSelect element.
The problem is only activated when "occlude other lights" tick box (in CoronaLightMtl or CoronaLight) is un-checked, and
 "emit light" is ON.
No other light's, or LightMtl's parameters combinations affect the behavior. I need the "occlude other lights" unchecked on the material assigned to the fake lights above road, otherwise it is visible blocking out the Environment. So far the only way I know how to circumnavigate this problem is to switch off all other light sources and render Environment on its own. But this mean no joy in interactive LightMix. Only in photoshop. Kinda sucks.. Any ideas?

[Max] I need help! / bucket mode in 1.6

Where is the option to chose bucket mode in corona 1.6?
I need it purely for debugging. some of our render nodes are missing some plugins (or whatever) and cock up the render. Need to fish them out! Using NetworkRenderDebugging element doesn't help as there is a tot of machine names one on top of anothers making this info difficult to understand, if possible at all.

Since version 1.5, CoronaLightMat diffuse textures are not showing properly in the viewport. Well, they are, but burned out to white, so really unusable for purpose of UVW mapping. This was not the case in 1.4, where one could clearly see the CoronaLightMtl textures.
Using a workaround of "standard" Corona material for UVW setting, and then re-applying CoronaLightMat seems like a vulgar and thoroughly unnecessary exercise.
Any ideas Gentlemen?

[Max] General Discussion / tooltips show-up time

Can the tooltip help be made to stay ON for as long as mouse is over an entry in question? They disappear in 5 seconds (material editor), which for longer descriptions is hardly enough, especially as you try to understand some new feature.

Can you please simplify adding objects to Cmasking_Mask > Manual selection?
At present, in order to add a group of objects, you must first create a new "named selection set" and then you can add it. It requires an unnecessary step of creating named selection sets for stuff you don't necessarily need in there. Much simpler, in my view, would be adding your current Max selection to the Cmasking list by pressing the + button.

Can you provide list of all Corona installed files during.. well, installation?
We are trying to automate render nodes updates. Perhaps syncing them to mother pc, on which the upgrade has been installed.
Ideas and recommendations welcome.

[Max] I need help! / lock interactive viewport?

How do I lock interactive render viewport to stay as perspective (or camera)  when I have to jump to orthogonal (top, left, etc.) to do some adjustments? I want to move things about in, let's say, top viewport, but I want to see the results of it in my camera interactive render window. Like in vray rt. Possible?

Hi
I have been using Vray for DR (distributed rendering) and animations for years. So know it quite well.
Recently installed Corona and.. love it. (I am on first week of a demo trial) 

Already installed DrServer as service on couple of office machines and testing. All working well. At least as far as the system is meant to work, as far as I can see. But here lies a problem. Because Corona's DrServer starts a new instance of 3ds Max for each frame (and then shuts it, only to open a new one again), rendering a DR animation with let's say 2 min frame time limit, on a big scene (one that takes long to load), causes the slave machines to be almost useless. I watched the Task Manager's performance graph and it looks a bit like couple of sharks in a queue. The CPUs would rev up to 100% eventually, but only for couple of seconds, just then the frame time limit was reached, slave's Max closed and another one starts to load again..

Is that the way it's supposed to run? Forgive me comparisons, as I said I love most things about Corona and am championing its purchase for our office, but at the end it must render DR animations in a fashion that's competitive to vray for us to move production to it.

Would it be possible for Corona's DrServer to actually start a "slave" Max session in the background and keep it open regardless of whether requests for DR are sent or not? (bit like vray I suppose)
