Can the tooltip help be made to stay ON for as long as mouse is over an entry in question? They disappear in 5 seconds (material editor), which for longer descriptions is hardly enough, especially as you try to understand some new feature.

It was asked before and answer was, as far as i remember, it's max's thing, Corona Team can little to do with it.
I'm not Corona Team member. Everything i say, is my personal opinion only.

yes, max chooses to show the tooltips for really short time, and even windows does not allow longer viewing time than 30 seconds AFAIK (WTF MICROSOFT). We might reimplement the tooltips from scratch, which would allow infinite viewing time, but... we are not sure if the time is worth it currently

Do i remember you guys having an online help where you could see all the corona max menus and see the tooltips there?

Thanks :) Maybe its worth doing one for the corona materials too. I found this a really novel and really useful way or learning what each menu item did. A really great way to learn!
