[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Re: Model in VFB
« on: 2017-01-19, 11:14:15 »
This would be amazing, but does sound a bit next next gen. I do find myself mistakenly trying to pick materials with the eyedropper from the interactive renderer sometimes or just clicking on objects. Shows just how intuitive it would be if it was possible.

We have the same problem here. The forestpack object disappears in the viewport whilst an IR is running. It reappears as soon as you stop the IR.

Corona 1.5.2 and Forest Pro 5.2.0

Personally I'm using Corona scatter as its simpler and easier, plus the viewport gizmo makes selecting the scatter much much easier (always hated how hard it is to select a forestpack object). But for new Corona users here, the first thing they reach for is Forestpack so its a shame its not working right.

Tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Is it possible to allow the noise level in the stats of the framebuffer to display more than 1 decimal place when the noise gets down to 0.0% ? . for example once it gets below 0.1% can it start reading 0.009% and below rather than just getting stuck reading 0.0%.

I say this because a new scene I'm working on quickly got down to 0.0% noise after around 100 passes, but after being left for 500 passes its much cleaner but still reads 0.0%.

Not a problem if you're sat at the computer, but when using teamviewer to check on a render its impossible to judge the noise visually and the noise level readout can't be relied on when its already down to 0.0%

Its too sharp for my tastes, but it'll be a combination of those things. Noise below 1% sounds unnecessary to me, but a larger rendering scaled down for the web will look sharper. Plus its probably been sharpened in post. Try this:, get an image of yours in photoshop, duplicate the layer and put it above the original. On this new layer run Filter>Other>High pass> radius of 2-4 - something like that. Then set this new layer to soft light or hard light and adjust the opacity.

Gallery / Morning Walk
« on: 2017-01-05, 16:02:33 »
This is an image done during some sparetime. For me personally it was an excuse to get back into using Corona after a couple of years of having to use Vray. I've basically gone from Corona A7 > Vray 3.3-Vray 3.4> to Corona 1.5  so there are a lot of new features I've not managed to keep up to date with properly.

Simple concept - I wanted to try out Megascans materials and objects for the first time and include some dogs (they're old low poly models, but I couldn't find any newer high polys that were running). So the story was a man walking back to his house in the woods after the morning walk with the dogs.

Rendered at 4k on a single workstation with 32gb of ram. Nearly everything has displacement, there's global fog, DOF & all trees/leaves etc scattered with CoronaScatter. It feels like you can chuck anythign at Corona and the only limiting factor is amount of ram available.

Just a small thing. Doesn't cause a problem at all, it just confused me for a minute.

When I've run the scene converter script. My existing VrayMtl in the slate editor are all converted correctly. But they still have the title of VrayMtl rather than changing to saying CoronaMtl

What type of license did you activate?

Is it possible you have the "Rendered frame window" checkbox unchecked in 3ds Max common render settings?

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks that was it!. Thank you. Not a bug I apologise. Just a quirk that it gets unchecked on files that get sent through to the render farm.

Is it possible that the window is created on different monitor, minimized, etc? I saw similar problems when people randomly disconnected and reconnected multiple monitors

Im fairly sure that the VFB isnt created somewhere off screen. Theres nothing visible on the windows7 taskbar previews along the bottom of the desktop. And on other scenes the VFB pops up right in the center of my main screen. (I have 2 screens)

Ok, I've just tried that. Opened the scene, changed the assigned renderer to Corona and immediately tried to render. It behaved in the exact same way. Rendering started, but no VFB pops up. I can only load the Native VFB and to see it rendering. Show VFB in coronas settings still only loads the Native VFB.

So you are right, the conversion hasnt caused it. It could be something to do with it being a vray3.1 scene I suppose. Its a scene from work where they have the latest vray version.

Here at home I just have 3.00.07.

I've just tried the same process with a very basic scene created in Vray 3.00.07 and Corona works as it should (Corona VFB loads and works normally).

Hi Congrats and many thanks for all your hard work on Corona. I had been using the alpha version in my previous job for the last year, unfortunately in my new job I'm having to use Vray again. It feels like Ive gone back to the stone age....... but anyway.

After installing the new V1.0 demo. I had a play in a brand new max 2015 file, not problems, all lovely.

But when I tried opening a project from work, created in max 2014 and setup in Vray 3.10, I used the coronaconverter, but when trying to render - Corona will only render in the native max VFB (its doesnt pop up automatically, but it does begin rendering in it). The corona vfb doesnt activate at all. and using the 'show VFB button' in Corona's settings only brings up the Native Max VFB as well.

Edit: P.S. The VFB type is definately set to 'CoronaVFB' on the system tab. I've tried swapping this drop down around etc, but without any luck. It just wont use the CoronaVFB for me on the converted scene.
