Heya, just flagging that this issue is still present.
I’m wondering if it has been forgotton? It’s a bit of a shame, because Vantage is genuinely amazing — the exported scenes work flawlessly, producing near like-for-like renders compared to Corona and Max, with reflections looking spot on.

However, in Live Link, reflections are still broken as per my original description, resulting in flat-looking materials which are nowhere near to Vantage’s true performance. If someone were to try out live link for the first time, it might give the wrong impression. Only want the best for you guys :)

I tried it again using corona 13 today and it's still the same thing. In fact, I rendered out some specular passes this time and you can very clearly see that the diffuse is hijacking the reflection. The 'exported scene' is correct and identical to max and corona.

🙏

Hi,
thanks a lot for the video, that helps a lot. Unfortunately I still cannot reproduce it. I can see you have some high dpi wide monitor, is that right? Could you pls post here your monitor setup you have (how many, which one is primary, and their dpi)? That would help be really helpful - as it might be problematic only in your specific setup.
Best Regards
Jakub
Hi Jakub

I don't think this is anything we are aware of. I am not aware of any other forum reports or support tickets. If it was a global issue, I am sure we would be getting lots of user reports.
Personally, never happened to me either.

Can you please explain what exactly you would like to do? What kind of scene is it? Is it mostly about a large/infinite plane with animated water, like ocean?

@394452216@qq.com - are you still having this issue? Could you please contact us about it at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

The solution is to use this in the string options window in the render dialog window (development/experimental stuff), restart the render if you're updating this while in IR:
int lights.envResolution = 4000

AFAIK the default valuue is 1000, try 2000, 4000 or some other value that improves the shadows. Keep in mind it will take longer to render and might result in a noisier image.

Actually, now this is available as a checkbox in the Scene > Environment rollout. :)

I've found some older reports and it looks like before Corona 13, the CBitmap + Triplanar combination did not work at all. What you are seeing in V13 should be the correct results.
If you would like to see identical mapping in Corona 13 as it used to be in 12, try removing the Triplanar node from the material setup (just connect CBitmap directly to the material channel). Please let us know if it worked.
