Maybe the Corona way to doing caustics is not the best one ? Otoy and nvidia got very good caustics examples, we struggle making caustics appear on very large scenes, having to detach geometry and merging into a new and smaller files just to get the caustics working.

We have a very big terrain 8km * 6km, it was all working smoothly until we started to use corona distance as a mask for a corona layer material applied to the terrain, now every vertex movement is as slow as it gets. It would be a big time saver if the corona distance just be computed at render time .

We are using corona 11.2 max 24.2.1  Win 10

Corona could benefit of a faster implementation of the dof, also we are missing a lot of lens effects.
Im aware of the DOF highlight solver, but right now its useless because corona denoiser is too bad compared with intel one and the noise level that would work with corona denoiser is too time consuming..

Check this out http://lentil.xyz/  it could be a good pairing for corona.

Thx for the response!

For the first point, that would be a great addition to chaos scatter ! just the ability to select a surface for any spline...
And for the second point, i guess that scattering that "empty" box would add some calculation time for the scatter, it would be nice to be able to add an empty object to the list..

Nothing is really perfect in reality, thats corona pattern achiles heel.
You need some random rotation and position to break that pattern

What we do for that is to use the forest lister to select and change forest objects while interactive is on.
