Hi Vuk and thanks for the reply !
Yes , I already heard the rumors about the 3700x
but it seems unreal if you consider that the 1950x
costs around 520 euros at the moment . A newer a better version of a 16c cpu with ,let's say , 300 euros? I wish!  but all the other ryzen cpus will be dead ...!

Nkilar, hi and thanks !
I saw this video  in YouTube the other day !
I am not a tech guru but I don't understand why
Microsoft can't fix such an issue ... obviously 2990wx is not the most commercial cpu. Some people said that intel is behind all this , I don't know... I don't care .

You are right about the nodes . I think I will build another 1950x pc ...

hm.. you are right !
Intel gives a TDP of 95watt for X5650 but I guess this can change dramatically under full load ... x12 cpus :/

Thank you TomG for the reply !
90-95% sounds good to me (for 1.6K!)

''Also remember that nodes only contribute in final renders, not in Interactive Rendering'',
I was expecting that ... I can do all the dirty work in my 1950x and render the final hires images in the ''HP Z600'' network!

Hello guys !
I want to buy a new workstation for my archviz (3ds max + corona) without busting the bank !!!
The 2990wx is always a good option but as I can see , windows 10 and windows server can't handle right the performance of this amazing cpu !
I already have the 1950x and I am very happy with it... but I want something more (greed! :) )
Something like 6500-8000 cinebench points would be nice !

Unfortunately, at the moment I can't pay 4-5k for a dual xeon workstation (eg. xeon 2996v4 , 128+g ram ecc), so I made some silly thoughts and I want your opinions !

The obsolete HP Z600 workstation with dual X5650 (12c -24t in total) and 24g ram costs around 320 euros at the moment in eBay and score 1350 cinebench points!
What if I buy 6 of those ? with almost 2000 euros  I can get 8100 points ! And it gets even better because I can buy these workstations without paying the VAT (European Union),
and the total cost would be around 1600 euros !

BUT,

is this true?
to be honest I never used distributed rendering before with vray or corona, I have zero experience ... (I don't really care about vray because I use exclusively corona at the office).
Corona could handle nicely this 6 workstations network ? I would like to get the 100% of the power if possible !

thanks in advance !

Lef

thank you for the reply  !!

- yes I meant I can't  :p ( that's why I am writing here!)
- I thought that by rising the multipliers it will eliminate the fireflies (obviously nothing changed)
- The roof lights are corona sphere lights with IES (from the corona's ies folder)
- I think, that the materials are ok , firstly I never had an issue again and secondly because they are designed for corona (sigermaterials - corona material preset pro v2.0.2)

I think that the IES is the problem , when I turn them off (from the lightmix) the fireflies disappear , the project's room is small and the lights are few that's a problem too but unfortunately the project is like that ...

maybe I have to rise the quality or the samples of the light ? that;s why I am asking about the settings etc  ...

[Max] I need help! / fireflies it is
« on: 2017-11-24, 11:47:26 »
Hello!
I have the fireflies case but I can solve the issue ...
I red some topics here about reflections , filtering , I raised the GI vs AA up to 60 and LSM 20 but nothing worked ...
I have 3 ies in the roof (from the corona ies folder),corona materials -sigershaders ,  no albedo problems, corona portal Mtl etc
I am a relatively new user (about a year) but never had this persisting issue...

any ideas ??
(and rendering process is a bit slower than usual too ! )

hi Romullus ,
yes I already saw that post but nothing new was posted since 2015,
and all this acrylic laser cuttings looks amazing but pricey , I am talking about
something '' cheap and dirty '' ! :)

Hardware / corona renderfarm

Hello everyone !
I just found out the IKEA Helmer renderfarm (http://www.helmer-air.com/)
and I am really interested to make something similar too !

Now days in ebay you can find some outdated (but well worth) lg 2011 xeons
with 30-50 euros and I think it will be VFM renderfarm .

My first idea is to achieve an ultra budget  ''350 euros per drawer'' combo (although the best idea is to double the price and pick a Ryzen 1600 or 1700)

PLAN A,
cpu : xeon E5 2680 v2 10c/20t 2.80-3.60 _ 150 euros
mobo: X79 3.5A LGA-2011, Micro-ATX Motherboard _  110 euros (https://tinyurl.com/yca5zkeo)
ram : 4x8gb ddr3 ECC ram 1333 _ 68 euros (https://tinyurl.com/ya8mder9)
psu: Powertech PS450W-T _ 18 euros
cpu cooler : Arctic Alpine 20 Plus CO _ 14 euros
case fans: 3x Arctic F8 80mm _ 8 euros
ssd : Corsair Force Series LS B 60GB SSD _ 42 euros (almost the same price with WD 500gb / 2.5)
gpu : MSI GeForce GT710 1GB _ 25 euros

Tot 435 euros !

435 x 6 = 2610 euros for all the 6 drawers !

and now the one million dollar question , is it worth it ? single xeon's cinebench score is about 1300pts (x6 = 7800)

Plan B,
is to make a 2x 18c ES xeon workstation with the same money but with a cinebench score around 5000 pts (but obviously less adventurous build overall)

please let me know what you think !

cheers,

Lef

ps. ultra budget alternate to plan A is to use Xeon E5 2650 (8c/16t 2.00 - 2.80) and 16gb of ram / Tot 290 euros (x6 = 1740 euros)

thank you maru !

I deleted the proxies (40 trees and about 50 sqm of grass) and now every frame is super fast ...
the trees are from evermotion (corona archmodels 1) so the materials are ok I suppose ,
any other ideas to make the render time a bit faster ?

[Max] I need help! / Exterior archviz animation issues
« on: 2017-09-27, 18:16:44 »
Hello there !
I need to do an exterior archviz animation for a client and although I saw the "saving UHD tutorial " I am wondering if there is a trick for the "PT + PT " method  in order to save some time .
A  test I did this morning , for a 820 x 460 pixel  frame took about 7 minutes on an intel 6850k ...meaning that for 300 frames (10 sec animation, 30fps) I need 2100 minutes = 35 hours ! Am I missing something here ? First time I try an animation with corona though ...

Thanks a lot

[Max] I need help! / Re: the ''4 meters'' render issue
« on: 2017-08-09, 17:57:14 »
so...I deleted all the elements and all the proxies not visible in the scene and reduced the ones that remained
and I can see an increase of speed like 60-70 % !!! now I am rendering in 12k !

thank you very much for the tips , God bless you all ! :)
