However the light material warns users against using it as a main scene light source.

That's not true. Self-illumination in a Corona Physical / Legacy material has this warning.
Actually:
- if the LEDs are just going to "glow" as in "appear as something bright" then you can use self-illumination
- if the LEDs are going to illuminate scene objects with strong light, then LightMtl or Corona Lights are the way to go

It would be useful as an input for control nets in stable diffusion too.

Scatter actual lights along a spline? Also the Light Material should be fine used as a main light source, it's Self Illumination in a Physical Material that shouldn't be used as main lighting. In fact Light Material performs the same as an actual light of that shape, except in the case of spheres as the Spherical Light is a mathematically perfect sphere so can be calculated faster.

In this project, we revisited the Oskol armchair designed by Ander Lizaso for Akaba Design, placing it in a softer, more domestic environment. The intention was to explore how a piece with such a bold and sculptural identity could adapt to a warmer, more intimate context without losing its strength.

We carefully crafted every element in the scene to support the narrative of the chair. From the choice of textures to the way the light interacts with the materials, each detail was designed to let the object breathe within the space. The result is a calm and balanced composition that highlights the versatility of the design while offering a different, more personal perspective on its presence.

[Max] Daily Builds / Re: Camera Inside Volumes Playground!
« Last post by alexyork on Today at 14:31:27 »
Glad to see this align-with-camera is now working. But one issue remains that we ideally need the "camera" to be a rectangular cuboid i.e. ability to separately control it's 3 x dimensions. Because right now if you want to do this half-in-water effect you're forced to determine it with a cube, so if you want a close cut (say 10cm away from camera) it means you can still see the far faces of the cube in the render causing artifacts. We need to be able to make the width and height separate from the depth basically. As of right now I'm still having to overcome this by using a custom invisible box that I use as a coronaslicematerial to cut out of the water. Sorry no preview to share as it's under NDA.

Given the vast customization of the slicing volume with slicer material (custom shape, linking to camera, animating if needed), I don't think it is worth adding the same functionality (which will clutter the UI for a simple thing) into camera. Camera physical volume is intended for the general-use-case quick medium cuts aligned with the camera. I believe it does the same thing as slicer material under the hood, so good thinking on the workaround :)

I understand where you're coming from, but in my experience this tool as it stands isn't usable unless your FOV is so narrow that you don't see the "cage". Not sure what the point of the tool is if the only way to use it properly is to actually not use it at all and do it all manually using a slicer. Wouldn't it make more sense to fix the current implementation so it can achieve the desired result? As you say, that tool has basically one single purpose/use-case, so it makes sense to me to make it work for that use case without such an obvious limitation. I'm sure this could be achieved without bloating the UI. After all there is already a section there for it in the camera.

[Max] I need help! / LED Strip and noise levels
« Last post by Jpjapers on Today at 14:25:09 »
Im working on a project that features hundreds of meters of LED Strips all of which are curved as they are around the outside edge of a racetrack. The only way i can currently achieve this is with a light material. However the light material warns users against using it as a main scene light source. The scene has dozens of overhead corona lights but The scene is also heavily influenced by the light from these led strips and is of course super noisy because of this.

Is there a better way of doing this?

One license consists of two things: a GUI license, which is used for displaying and using the software UI, and a render node license, which is used for rendering.
If you have 2 computers and you are rendering on both of them, then you need 2 render node licenses.

Well I have a Corona Universal license for my Mac and there's a Corona Render Node license that says "available" on there.
I can't seem to assign it to my PC. Is there some way of doing that?

Hi, the Maxon App only affects your Cinema 4D license, not Corona or other Chaos products.
The error message says that Corona is not activated. Corona licenses can be checked by going to the Chaos License Server - http://localhost:30304/
Do you have enough Corona licenses to render on your 2 machines?

ALSO, I have just noticed when I got down into "About and Licencing" in the corona tab in the team render client box it brings up the "About Corona" box with the version number, etc. When I click on License server it takes me through to the web page showing licences. On that, I can see the "Corona Render Node" licence is available.

This is obviously the crux of the problem here.

Any ideas? No matter what I do on the Maxon App (from PC or from Mac) this license won't assign to the PC...
