What is latest stable do you use?
Thanks!

General CG Discussion / Re: Have you seen Unreal Engine 5.5?
« Last post by mark_yang on Yesterday at 09:51:51 »
We have been fully transitioning to UE5 for producing architectural animation since this year. Actually, I am not very fond of the production effects of UE5. UE5 does not have much optimization for architectural animation production, and many functions need to be explored by myself. For example, the PCG and brush of the tree planting plugin are difficult to use. We miss forests and chaos scatter very much. The production effect is also very strange, with many dark areas being dead black. Now occasionally using Corona feels particularly comfortable. However, the speed of UE5 is really fast. Based on the animation path feedback just sent by the customer, we estimate that we can send the sample to the customer for confirmation in one or two hours. This is difficult to achieve with an offline renderer (3Min animation)

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Rendering Slower with Sun / Sky vs HDRI
« Last post by Okmijun on 2025-04-19, 22:51:27 »
Hello,

I have noticed that rendering with Corona Sun/Sky is a lot slower than rendering with an HDRI. Why is that? I would of thought it would be the reverse.

Me too, I did not make the tests, but the difference is noticable.
Perhaps, it is not about the Sun, only the Sky cause the render to slow.
You can use both Sun+HDRI, and it works quit fast, too.
Cheers!

Do not care about "realism" unless it looks good.
for VFB with zero exposure Sun is about 0,05-0,08

That's exactly it yep :) Build the scene in a way that represents the real world (I was going to say "reflects the real world" but that was too bad a pun even for me!)

Below is our second release candidate for Corona 12 Update 2.

Please check this article covering the risks of using daily builds: Daily Builds FAQ
Use daily builds at your own risk and always make backups of important projects before opening them with a daily build installed.

You can download this build from Chaos account's downloads page or from Google Drive.

Changes in Corona 12 Update 2 for Cinema 4D (Release Candidate 2):
  • Fixes
    • Installer should no longer open browser with localhost:30304 at the end of licensing server installation
    • About dialog is closed when opening Chaos Account dialog to avoid issues with Z-ordering of multiple modal windows
    • Fixed mouse scrolling in Corona VFB when mouse is over disabled widgets
    • Fixed changing of selected render pass in Corona VFB on macOS using mouse wheel
    • Improved few error messages related to licensing
    • Removed some unnecessary UI initializations in non-GUI versions of Cinema 4D and related tools (removes "DevTools listening on ..." message in console of c4dpy, command line render etc)

yes, I work with a double glass but they are 2 planes, maybe I have to try putting 2 boxes...

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: Problems Rendering Animation!
« Last post by dfcorona on 2025-04-18, 18:02:35 »
It is actually not so hard.

On the frame where the issue appears, check camera position, check the objects above it from top view.
Almost always the problematic objects are above the camera. Select them, then "Get from selected" in material editor. This way you filter out just a few material and objects to check.
Hi Aram, Yes you are correct, I just opened the scene which is large, over 2.7GB compressed. It has multiple floors in one shot and the camera is under the object looking at top down. Thanks for that, I'll keep it in mind. It just sucks that you will not find this issue till you render out an animation. out of 240 Frames of one shot, maybe 15 frames have this issue, and not all in a row. It wasn't util frame 105 that this started. But since fixing the issue changed the lighting slightly I had to rerender the entire shot again.

It is called double/triple glazing. Basically there are multiple planes which catch reflections.
It is pretty easy to get this effect when you have the geometry correct.
