Dear users,

Hotfix or any release may fix an issue by a chance, but it most probably won't if the issue is not clear and is not duely reported.

The best report include a screen recording of everything being done, scene if present, and the minidump.
Collect those if you can and submit it through:

I had to uninstall and install corona 11 h2 immediately -I'm running a business not a beta tester sorry. If I wanted to mess around I would have installed a daily. Corona release 12 should be a finished product -that's what I pay my subscription for. No? I'm not running anything unusual, Threadripper, 4090, installed under admin account on Win 10. Should be good to go. It broke my whole interface!

I can understand your frustration, but please note that:
- Every Corona release undergoes multiple tests (by our devs, QA, support teams, other teams, both automated and manual)
- Corona 12 does not crash on our office machines (various hardware and software configurations, Intel, AMD, desktops, laptops), and I am not aware of any surge of crash reports during the daily build / RC phase, so the problem is not global, it's most likely system-specific
- If anything is working wrong for you (crashes or anything else), please contact us at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new - otherwise we won't know what the problem is so we won't be able to provide a fix

corona render node crashing, won't render. Reverted to 11

I won't vent my frustration in ranting, it's useless. But everyone who said they expect a finished product for their money, is correct.

There's no excuses. Corona 12 is not a finished product.

And we are all working with deadlines; don't release it as such, cause I for one do not download any new version until it's out for public download as a finished product. You cost me 4 houres of bullshit on installing and finding out it's unstable.

I have a 13900K
It seems to be a Intel CPU problem.

I tweaked the maximum temperature of the CPU to 85º Celsius and Corona stopped crashing
Maybe with 90º would be sufficient, have to try.

Same here. I've given up and reverted to 11.2, what has windows 24H1 got to do with the installer crashing max?

It will give me a chance to rebuild 3ds max with a fresh install so I can see where the conflict is coming in. Can't believe it would be my hardware..3970x...4090..It could be that Corona is fighting with a plugin, driver or env variable..don't know. Just annoying that it's so sensitive..Vray Arnold etc work fine!

Im noticing crashes running interactive with an object that uses a path deform modifier. If I disable or remove the object using path deform I dont crash.

Hey, had similar issue, when corona 12 either not rendering or crashed in IR render. In my case - in one of the scenes, I had corona scatter with edge trimming enabled on the chaos scatter rollout. And one of the instanced object that was used for scattering had edge trimming map in opacity slot. Even tho it was disabled in material, it still would crash. Once I've removed the map - it started to render without the problem.

In 2nd scene I as well had chaos scatters, tho I did not had time to check if any of the scatter objects had trimming map, removing chaos scatter for good helped.

UPDATE:

In 3rd scene, I did not had any scattering at all. The scene crashed as soon as I've opened material editor or started IR render

Both of these cases will be worth to investigate, and seems you did great work identifying where the issues may be.
Please, if possible, submit the scenes (or trimmed down versions of them) for us to have a look. Thanks.

You can submit a new ticket at: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
and attache the scene.

You can also specify this forum thread in the ticket to keep better track of things.

Done!

Another thing that I've noticed regarding chaos scatter. If I open the scene with scatter present ( edge trimming turned on in  the roll out ) and start rendering: If I'm rendering in IR mode, It crashes, In normal render it stucks in parsing mode, with max render windows missing at all.

Then, if I turn edge trimming off and on, it will render normally in both modes.
