Hi, sorry for the delay, your thread somehow wasn't marked as new for me.

If you are still getting this problem:
- Please let us know which exact version of Corona and 3ds Max you are using
- What is your CPU model?
- Is this happening only with batch rendering or also if you render from F9 / F10?
- In your screenshot, the rendering has actually started - it says "rendering initial pass" which basically means that Corona is rendering its first pass

If you have a scene where you can consistently reproduce this, please contact us at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and attach that scene.

Thanks in advance!

If render time is the priority for you, you might be able to get away with translucency only (no sss or volumetrics).

Some updates to the forum are planned, so we might consider a "forum chatbot" or a similar solution as well.

Perhaps you could try adjusting your settings to match a reference photo/render?

Hi,

Depends on how much you are ready to compromise:

both rendered to 6% noise level, denoised with OIDN.
When it comes to SSS, there is almost no fake that can do it. You can try without displacement (only bump):

but you should probably tweak it based on scene.

I see. What about other information on this forum? People discuss in all kinds of topics related to rendering, hardware, workflows etc. I, for example, have a few threads bookmarked for when I need to come back to certain topics and look up information because I know it's credible and it works. We could basically have a forum chatbot, and of course as I mentioned previously not all of the information here is credible or still valid but that's for everyone to decide I guess.

Yeah, I tested both SSS and Volumetric solutions. In general volumetric gives a a bit better result. The problem is a rendering time, together with displacement it's becoming huge and I'm looking for some a little bit more optimized solution so it can be animated.

I would say there are multiple ways to get to do this actual material, one would be very intensive but its through using SSS and a couple of noise maps all linked to one composite map to better control them, the second which is great for closeups, if you were to get an adobe substace foam material and add SSS to you hearts intent and go from there
