What would help the most would be for the CIE to reflect the latest features so as not to create a disconnected workflow.

I have been trying to get the CXR render restart working I have to get all of the previous image settings right or it gives errors or crashes. Not really the work method I was after. Also If I load the CXR into history and start to edit the image the auto exposure and white balance don't function.

This is a mess and a lack of forward thinking.

I am not going to go through the ticket system I have done that before with bugs and its like pulling teeth.

I don't understand the cost $1000 AUD for vantage, if I really wanted GPU rendering Vray would be my choice since I would not need to spend additional money to have CPU and GPU rendering. Also other easy to use real-time rendering packages such as D5 are way cheaper.

4
Also the bake in feature crashes my max and the same thing happens to a friend of mine.

5
I want to use the new white balance feature but when I save out my CXR file the corona image editor is missing the new UI and the white balance options ?

Any ideas ?

The Boundary bought Buildmedia NZ and their weapon of choice is Unreal.

But it's probably a mix of both.

7
The Boundary tour looks like Unreal not Vantage ? Can you out put a real-time app with Vantage and program in functionality ?

I understand game engines and how they can be applied for archviz etc. My question was about Vantage.

8
I have not used Vantage and I am unsure why it's such a big deal ?

Can anyone give me links to animations that are using it that have been exported from Corona ? Why would I want to pay an additional $1000 AUD to use it when I am already paying for Corona. Also does Vray not already have GPU rendering implemented ?
I am guessing its fast, but is it up to scratch in terms of quality compared to corona and vray. And why is it not its own renderer, why does it need to be exported out of max/c4d from existing render engines ?

Seems like a big spend to use it including the additional cost of getting high-end GPU's to get the most out of it.

Any expert opinion's on this would be great.

Bear in mind that the amount of "burning" of the sky into the foliage depends on the sky intensity. For example, if you would add a texture/solid color with an extremely high intensity, the amount of burning would also be extreme. Right now it's hard to tell what exactly is wrong.

I understand that having an intense light behind an object can create a harsh fringing effect. But take a look at the same shot rendered with a standard sun sky that I would say is not intense at all. The foliage is just as clipped as my other example regardless of intensity.

I think this really warrants further investigation or explanation since the outcome is really not desirable. I would like to render the whole shot in frame to keep my post work to a minimum.

I have been working on an external scene and have been noticing the way the background is interacting with my tree's, it really messes with the edge's, volume and clarity of the foliage. Attached are two renders at 100% the good one was rendered against a black background and the sky added in post and the bad render the background is rendered in frame.

I suggest placing both images as layers in photoshop and click back and forth to see exactly what I mean.

Is anyone able to explain to me what is going on and why it looks so bad ?

Cheers

Did you find out what the issue was I am having the same problem. My scene renders sometimes then this issue happens and I have to restart max. I have never had this issue before only with corona 12.

I Disabled my firewalls and that did not fix the problem.

Cheers

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Corona 12 - VFB UI

Yeah I was wondering the same thing did they test the UI and take into account the user bases thoughts or just throw it out and see what happens. They could have added more colour grading tools and a real time histogram. And fixed up the curve tool so it's more usable.

I also agree with you on the corona12 release the additional features for Corona itself are really not worthy of a version upgrade should have just been added in a daily.

The whole price increase is an absolute slap in the face, and all of the bloatware chaos added to jam the price up is an insult. Also the quality and content of the corona updates are getting smaller and smaller.

On another note you can already get a fully cracked version of corona12. Which is bad news for people who pay since other studios quote such low prices you cannot compete.

Really now the feature rich product is vray since they will not let corona compete with it. The writing was on the wall when Chaos purchased Corona.

I agree with most of the statement's. Corona has grown slowly stale in terms of development since chaos purchased it, Not surprised due to vray being the flag ship engine. Most of the updates have been hand me downs from vray, and scatter is not a feature I use since I have forest pack. The added bloatware ie scans, phoenix, cosmos etc could have been left out and kept the price down. Also tiles being a major feature of release eleven is really underwhelming since I use substance designer which is way faster and more advanced for tiles, bricks anything really.

On another not I have had an absolutely terrible experience with chaos support and am still going through a major issue that has been months.

Gone are the days a Corona update was super exciting to be apart of.

I just tested out this feature. I always use substance designer for this type of work. It's ok for really basic stuff. But for more control of the height map details, diffuse work etc and speed, substance all day. Also would be good to be able to convert the height map to a normal map so you can add fine details to keep the displacement light. Attached are some basic tests.

Would be great if the corona team spent some more time on the cloud system.

Cheers
