That is a good idea, I will try that.
Could you recommend a good software for generating displacement maps, that works on Mac?

Unfortunately, I only have R19, which doesn't have this feature.

Hi Marcus, thanks for the tip. I also saw similar tutorial for Cinema4D, however, as far as I know, C4D is not very good with large amounts of clones, and looks like my computer can't handle millions of clones easily.

Thank you, beanzvision. I guess the issue when I was trying to do it was that I didn't have a good displacement map. Would it be possible to share the one you used for this example so I can play around with it?

[C4D] General Discussion / Sand in detail

Hi all,
I am trying to create detailed sand material in Cinema4D. I want to use it for a close-up, where you are actually able to see grains of sand. Something like in this picture: https://i.redd.it/7azfkec6sve11.jpg
Could you recommend a good approach?
I tried using bump and displacement maps, but that doesn't look good (unless I am not doing it right).

The only thing I found on google is this tutorial for 3Ds Max: http://www.studioharmony.sk/sand/sand.html

Thanks

Hi maru, I am using primarly Mac, but also have a Windows PC where I tried the batch script. BAT files can't be run on Mac.

Thanks for the suggestions. I followed all steps but it returned the exact same message. The only version of Corona I have on the Windows PC right now is version for C4D.

In the meanwhile, I had to find a temporary solution. If anyone was wondering, I used Automator on Mac, recorded an action "Watch me do", then recorded all steps - In the Editor, I opened image, loaded the settings, then saved as png. The action I recorded is now "playing" and doing all manual steps for me, it still takes a lot of time to finish, but still better then doing all this manually, for every single frame.

It is happening after downloading Max version. First I tried it just with the corona version I had for my C4D and it didn't work (when I double clicked on the .bat file, the command window just opened for 0,5sec and then closed with no result at all). So, I tried Max version which gives me the licence error.
I downloaded the script here: https://coronarenderer.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/12000030886

I am trying to batch edit my .exr renders using the script that is provided on this website. I managed to make the script running, however, it keeps asking for a corona licence. I am using the latest Beta version for C4D. The licence is activated via C4D (e.g. Corona is working there), and the Image Editor is working as well. The issue is only when I try to run the batch script. I also tried to download and unzip version for 3Ds Max.
Am I doing something wrong?

The message I get is:
Error: Failed to find a valid Corona Image Editor license. Please run the GUI version of this application and activate your license there.

Please read the help for the editor. The appropriate part of the help can be printed out by using one of the --help, --list-properties, or --list-examples arguments.
Processing C:\Users\...\xxxx.exr

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Motion Blur Question
« on: 2018-09-14, 12:25:20 »
I came across the exact same problem. I am also running Mac with R19. I tried using Target tag for camera orientation as well as manual tracking (example below), with the camera following moving car at constant speed. The car is blurry as if it was stationary and only camera was moving. Both options "Enable Camera" and "Enable Objects" ticked. See examples below:

render.png

The only walk around I can think of would be to move the whole "world" and keep the vehicle stationary.

Okay, to answer my own question looks like "Highlight clamping" fixed it.

Hi all,

I have a scene of an interior with just with camera movement/pan, all lights stay the same. When I render the animation, I get a light flicker in the reflection. What is causing it? I am using "load UHD Cache from file" option and "Animation (flicker-free)" preset, all other settings are a default.
In the gif attached you can see an example of the flicker.

Thanks for suggestions

So I tried the FTP thing and that didn't work either:

As you can see in the screenshot, the "./" is added automatically after I enter the path. When I enter "http://" the whole path disappears except Filename.
I wonder how other people do it when they render using TeamRender and Load Cache from file??

Thanks for your reply. I already tried many things including Virtual Machine. I installed MacOS on the Windows Machine. When I installed C4D it worked great, but when I installed Corona Plugin, the C4D keeps crashing on startup... I was so close..
Unfortunately I am connecting to the internet via Wifi only and when Wifi is active, TeamRender doesn't work.
I was looking into creating "virtual FTP" on my computer using localhost but that didn't work neither.. Other thing is that if in Corona settings as a path to the Cache file I type IP address, it automatically adds dot character in front of the address which results in windows machine "not being able to find" the cache file.
Any other ideas?

I already created a thread in C4D section, but this might be more suitable section, so here it goes again.

I need to render an animation but without loading cache from file I get very strong flickering through the whole room. I am using Mac as primary computer and Windows as rendering node. How do I set the path for both Mac and Windows machine to find this cache file when there is only one field for file path in Corona? I don't have a server, only two computers connected together via ethernet. I can't be connected to the internet via Wifi because then the team render doesn't work.
Is there any solution for this? I tried searching all over the internet but no results. I've already spent so much time trying to figure out..

Thank you!
