I'm a big fan of GPU render engines, my main render engines are iRay and Arion, in fact the second one is the first one becuase it has a pretty neat production toolset... But... That said...

Men... Corona is the best and faster render engine I faced in my life, it can lack a few features because it's in development but anyways, so far, is the best render engine, the fastest and the one that gives me the better quality.

BTW it is now my main production render engine of course!

I would like to know the render times for Furryball in that computer, you can't compare CPU render engines like mental and vray in an OLD fashioned i7-930 with a GPU render engine using a Titan, one of the most modern GPU's in the market... It's a bit biased... Also the mental ray one is very bad configured... I'm sure of that...

@Woshilvba: Can you upload an screenshot with the exact error so Keymaster can take a look? usually that helps a lot because maybe the problem is somewhere else, think that max 2011 is a very old version of max (but if corona supports it it should be working nevertheless).

Also do you have the possibility to install 2012/13 or 14 and check if it works there (at least 14 in trial mode) to discard an specific 2011 problem.

I have to say that I don't work with keymaster, I say that because i'm asking for a screenshot so keymaster can watch it and maybe he don't need it, it's just that I think this can help Keymaster to understand what is happening and it can help us to help you to solve the problem (after many years of alpha/beta testing other packages )

Also another thing that can help is a video instead of a picture, and also another thing that can help to discard other problems is to make a clean install of max.

BTW when you start max, the crash is just for corona but you can work with max, or does it crashes max completely? If it's the latter, does it brings you a CER windows? (I think you can see the CER details, but I'm not sure about that, i don't remember exactly)
Other possibility is some kind of incompatibility with another plugin (but that's weird because many more people could be having the same problem)

I hope this can bring some light into the table, these kind of errors are a pain in the ass and usually are silly things like a missplaced file or similar :P

Hi there.

I tried the exe you put for download Keymaster and it crashed, the system was a clean install of windows 7 64.
I downloaded this:

The Visual C 64 2013  libraries.

After installing it your exe worked like a charm :)
So no need to completely upgrade windows I think, just install the latest Visual C libraries...

Hi there.

Right now we have a translucency color map, that's ok, but I would like a map slot for the translucency multiplier because the color map affects the color, not just the force.

For example if you put a noise black and white in the translucency color map and put a translucency of 1.0 you will get white and black colors no matter the diffuse color you have, so a map to control strenght of translucency can be great.

I agree with you in all the points, even with the point on raising prices.

Right now we don't do nearly any arch/viz because that business in spain is more or less destroyed :P

If you want to donate your 2600K i will receive it very pleasently, even with sending charges XD

About the q6600, yes, I meant that.

In spain, anyways, raising prices is hard, when you work with agencys it's something inmoral, I will put an example here, i received a quote petition from a client, I prepared a quote around 6000€, we do everything, then a few after that I had the opportunity to see my clients quote to the final client (remember... We do everything) ... Their quote was 12000€! And we didn't get the job because it was too expensive :P

Thats the way spain works, you can charge a fair amount for your job, the intermediate clients are getting the money :P

And that if you don't think in the amount of freelancers and small studios that don't bother about licenses :P

Hard time down here...

Well, they don't perform that bad, a q6600 it's a 25% in performance than a 2600k.

You may think that there is no reason to maintain it... but money is a good reason, I would like to unplug those and put some i7 39xxK or 4xxxK, but maintaining increasing renderfarm power has it's cost, it's not so hard in electricity, and also If I put 1 2600k and I remove those, I have the same performance, If I maintain those, I have doouble performance XD
Of course I want to quit those computers, but I have to sell them and get at least the money for a 2600k/39XXk... and that's hard...

Eventually I'll drop them. but they are also good holders for GPU's for GPU rendering :)

In general lines, I agree with you but money it's what dictates what do I do with the machines, and the yearly cost of licenses and all this things is high for a small studio, so I'm happy of being able to have a renderfarm hehehe

Your render times in your scene are very weird IMHO, specially after seeing your benchmark results :P

Try to see what happens if you remove all teh textures, leave the materials intact except for the textures, remove them, and remove also the HDR and any light source and start the lighting from scratch.
Also another test could be to put an override material with a simple grey, and try to render it.

About the vRay HDRI, the thing is that that is a Vray map, so maybe it's doing something weird for corona under the hood, so use a standard bitmap (just my opinion, I'm not sure this is interferring at all)
But it's obvious that there is something weird in your scene :P

If you can share your scene (or better, a reduced version of it that suffers the same problem) we can try it, I think you'r scene is rendering too slow for your system.

Awesome guys, and awesome render engine.

I hope we can afford it when it goes with a price, or at least that you could release it with some kind of payment plan or something so small studios like us can deal with it.

I'm really loving it, this is the real next generation render engine.

What's your result with the Corona Benchmark?

Just out of curiosity to have a comparison time, I want to do a similar test and check your speed becasue I think it's a bit slow and I have a different feeling here, I'm not working yet with such complex scenes but my simple interior scenes are fast, so I'm a bit confused with what I see :)

Why are you using a Vray HDRI map for the environment?

Shouldn't it be a standard bitmap?
