Something to play with during the weekend.
Thanks a lot!

NEO-N - thanks for the reply.  I am using a 35mm lens.  I use this combination of lens, distance and fStop quite often and usually get a decent DOF effect.  You may well be right, but I don't remember it being this difficult.  Thanks again for taking the time to reply...

I am actually a bit confused because with your settings the armchair in the foreground should be blurred. Take a look at your Corona settings in the Camera/Postprocessing tab. Since your camera tag does not overwrite them they should be valid for rendering.
Is there still an F-Stop of 16 there? If yes, try 1.8 there. Do you have DOF now?
Since I ALWAYS override the settings, I cannot say for sure if what is shown in the tag is what it should, but I guess displaying a 1.8 there when it is actually set to 16 could be wrong.

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Double reflection over glass
« on: 2017-11-15, 20:24:25 »
There is another way, though, but it is more complicated than just "normal move" the liquid's surface into the glass:
- Create the glass vessel, create the cap of the liquid, then select the polys where glass and liquid would meet (involves cutting and connecting), and create a selection tag of them (after you joint them with the "cap").
- Assign a glass material to the whole object and a liquid material to the selection.

Works, but I always prefer the "scale" way to go.

[C4D] Resolved Bugs / Re: Strange SDS and/or Boolean crash

Same C4D version, latest beta of Corona - no crash.

Hmmm,

my steps are:

  • open scene
  • check all Bools and SDS
  • hit render
  • wait for kaboom ;-)

I uploaded a short video:

Hi. You all got this totally wrong.... Any old time Corona user knows that hamsters has nothing to do with Corona - it's all about Ponies!

If I had a dual CPU setup or bigger, I would go with ponies, too. For my single CPU, hamsters work just fine.
OTOH, I would not upgrade to ponies if I got my hands on a unicorn. It is never easy to decide ...

C4D AR and Vray works as real.... liquid mesh inside glass, not in-between glass thickness. First time saw this method.

...

Unless we are completely misunderstanding each other, Vray works the same (as is AR):

Strictly speaking, using that definition, a computer is not a machine, since it uses electromagnetical power rather than mechanical :-)

Does using an array of hamster wheels for creating this power qualify?

ahhhh..... yes corona handle it a bit different. glass, liquid and then glass thickness....!!!

Glass thickness?
You scale the liquid a big so it extends into the glass. That's what I know from the AR, from Vray and it works fine in Corona, too, just like in the tutorial.

Aha, indeed! It could really be the reason why Corona runs stable on this machine and gives issues on others.
Because I never use installer to install directly.
My preferred practice is to unpack, then move stuff to proper locations.
That way i know registry is safe, no extra stuff gets installed & cleaning is hassle free.
;)

I do that, too. But you definitely made sure that on all machines the needed "runtimes" are installed. Maybe this is the cause of some issues some users had. Although that's what the installer is for, actually ...

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: MultiMap

Wow! But I can not make it work :(
No random effector? How should I set the fracture in order to make it work?

No setup needed, leave "Fracture" in Mode "Straight", put everything with a Multi shader texture tag under it (as children). Mograph will now consider the children "pseudo clones" and simply work with the multi shader.

821
Did you try the legacy version?

The Blend material is the Layered material now.

If you happen to have Mograph in your R17, you can group your objects under a Mograph Fracture object and use the Mograph multi shader anyway. No need for them to be "real" clones.

[C4D] General Discussion / Re: Corona with Vray code
« on: 2017-11-09, 06:28:10 »
With a file in attachment, you will probably be able to detect a possible bug and also put blame on V-Ray :)))))
p.s. I think the problem is between left side reflection and right side matt material.

As expected, using Path tracing instead of UHD cache helps, dialing up UHD precision from 1 to 20 helps, too (the "wise value" lies somewhere between 1 and 20, but I was far too lazy to check, where ^^).
I'd go for Path tracing anyway, but if there is something buggy, the developers must know.

Just out of curiosity - did you create this scene with an older version of Corona - your sampler is set to "Stratified" whereas for some versions DMC is the default one?

Looking for V shaped artifacts now ;)

There is no V-Ray code in Corona besides the DMC sampler. The DMC sampler doesn't really affect the aspects of the image you mentioned.

[I actually expected that all Corona issues from now on would be indiscriminately blamed on V-Ray. It took longer than I thought it would, but here we are :)]

Best regards,
Vlado

I get a lot of V shaped artifacts lately, so I think that's part of the conspiracy, too!
