Hi everyone,
We’re facing a challenge with file linking in Cinema 4D & Corona Renderer while working remotely across multiple workstations. Our assets are stored on Google Drive, but we’re struggling with inconsistent file paths when opening scenes on different machines.
The Problem:
When a scene is created on one computer (e.g., PC A), it cannot find assets when opened on another computer (e.g., PC B) because the file paths differ.

Example of Different Paths:
PC A: Google Drive is installed on G:\, so the asset path is:
G:\Shared Drives\03_Projects\C4D\04_Chaos Cosmos\Packages\3D_Models\Vegetation\Paper_Birch_002_Spring_eab24e7f\eab24e7f_3dh_Paper_Birch_002_Spring.vrmesh

PC B: Google Drive is installed on E:\, so the asset path is:
E:\Google Drive\Shared Drives\03_Projects\C4D\04_Chaos Cosmos\Packages\3D_Models\Vegetation\Paper_Birch_002_Spring_eab24e7f\eab24e7f_3dh_Paper_Birch_002_Spring.vrmesh

The Question:
How can we standardise asset paths so the scene works across all computers without requiring manual relinking each time?
We’re particularly interested in how other remote teams have tackled this issue. What approaches have worked best for you? Are there any software- or hardware-based solutions you’ve found effective in ensuring seamless file access across multiple workstations?
Our current team consists of three people, with a planned expansion to five this year. We’re looking for a scalable solution that will prevent asset-linking issues as our team grows.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

[Max] I need help! / Re: Interactive rendering slows down.
« Last post by Naxos on Yesterday at 11:54:32 »
Hello there,

Good and bad news :

Good one : disabling EXPO did solved the lag problem, al least for this first hour testing.

Bad news : my ram is now working at 4800 instead of 6000...

Slower, but not freezing, the overall is a good news !

Next step is to go back in BIOS, set manually the latencies, and check again... I'll try to find time for that today.

Best regards.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Chaos Scatter camera clipping + batch render bug
« Last post by tatarka on Yesterday at 11:53:26 »
I use Batch Render to queue up shots.

1. When I set Chaos Scatter camera clipping to active camera, and start batch rendering with selected camera 1, the camera clipping does not update the area for the other cameras.
2. When I set Chaos Scatter camera clipping to active camera, and start batch rendering without selected any camera, camera clipping does not work at all and scatter in full range.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Is "image upscaling factor" exposed to maxscript?
« Last post by maru on Yesterday at 11:28:42 »
Unfortunately, it seems this is not accessible via maxscript. System settings are written to a file at C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\20xx - 64bit\ENU\en-US\plugcfg\corona\SystemSettings-xxx.conf

[Max] I need help! / Re: Saving in EXR: Render Elements are not saved
« Last post by maru on Yesterday at 11:19:26 »
I was having exactly the same problem, but then I installed https://www.exr-io.com/ and it turns out the render elements were there all the time. So it seems Photoshop for some reason does not recognize the baked-in render elements by default. I guess you were opening your output in Photoshop, right?

Hardware / Re: how much difference does the ram speed do?

We have multiple reports of problems with 9950X CPU - https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=43755.0
We are not sure what is causing them. I would advise getting a different CPU until we know what exactly is happening. It seems to be related to Windows Update.

Yes, this can happen if Corona detects that you are inside a volumetric (including refractive) material. This may happen in some unexpected cases like having an object with no thickness (e.g. a plane) above or close to the camera.

Here, under "disable volumetric effects" you can find a script which removes volumetric effects from all scene objects. Please backup your scene and try it: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4528592571537-Corona-renders-black-screen-3ds-Max

If it doesn't help, then most likely the issue is related to refraction without any additional volumetric effects. The solution would be to make sure that there is no object with no thickness using a refractive material in the scene. As Aram noted, it could be a window object using refractive glass instead of "thin" glass.

This looks like a medium resolving issue.

The best thing would be to check the scene. For now, you can at least make sure the windows looking outside have simple glass material, without any volumetrics/absorption, and thin option enabled.

Thanks Maru, yes it is the system settings one that I am looking for.

Also typo in my original comment. IPR not IOR :)

Do your windows have thickness? (ie they are cubes, not just planes - the glass parts)

Does your glass material use any volume effects?

Do you have anything in the overrides in the Scene Environment section of the Render Settings (in the Scene tab)?

Do you have anything in the overrides section of the Camera settings?
