Hi,

I try to avoid using Anima standalone at all costs, so I can't answer these questions sorry.

I don't have a solution to your problem, unfortunately.

But I am also a big user of Anima.

I only come here to say that it is a horrible plug-in to ever try to do any debugging on. It has so many issues, performs so unpredictably, causes so many headaches, and yes, there is no community to speak of to turn to.

But it has become a completely necessary part of my workflow, unfortunately.

I was hopeful that Chaos would improve it, but it only seems to have got worse since.

Good luck with solving the issue!

So I'm using Bake To Texture a lot lately, and I've just discovered a limitation on the scatter edge trimming;

I know this is a slightly odd use case, but let's say I have some grass scattered on a landscape plane with edge trimming selected, it all works fine.

But when I use bake to texture on a flat 100% transparent surface hovering above the landscape the edge trimming isn't applied and I can now see the 'rough' edges.

Any workarounds you can think of to force the trimming? Thanks

You can probably ignore this report. On closer inspection, multiple things seemed to have been going wrong to cause such an issue for me.

As far as I know, I don't think so.

Would be a great feature to have though!

😂

You clearly got chatGPT to write this... I'm guessing on your own post ... because no one else commented. 👍

Like many on this forum I see A LOT of renders...

These have to be the best renders I've ever seen.

Makes me want to quit my job and give up.

Well done. Congratulations! Keep up the good work.

[Max] I need help! / Vibe coding with maxscript
« on: 2025-04-22, 21:08:59 »
I've been doing a lot of 'vibe coding' (AI coding with chatGPT) lately and had great success.

But I have to say it's not very good at maxscript.

Does anyone have good tips on how best to or which service is best suited for AI writing of maxscript code?

Many thanks!

You didn't say where you are baking the maps, but assuming it's with Corona, then in 3ds Max this setting is called padding. Just be aware, that in Corona, unlike in any other render engine, more padding equals more render time, so it's not recommended to increase it much :]

Thanks

Yes, Corona... naturally!

Ah, I did see and play around with that padding setting in the bake t texture, but I must've glossed over the results.

Thanks again

As I'm doing a lot of unwrapping in 3dsmax with Corona lately...

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how to get dilation on the baked/unwrapped texture maps?

Just so we're clear, here is an example of what I want:

Thanks!

Hi again Maru,

Just to follow up on this - I was able to build a pretty amazing online tool. Already shared it with clients to make their own lightMix.

It did take quite a lot longer than 15 mins, but I used your AI code as a base and spent about 1 full workday refining it exactly as I needed it.

One query; you mentioned 24-bit PNG export... I can't seem to do this from CIE? Is it possible?

I am noticing a bit of gamma related issues on some projects, so trying to debug that now.

Will happily share this cool once it's a bit more polished. I think this could be pretty useful for our little community :) Sharing a screenshot, but can't show much of the image for NDA reasons.

Agreed, that nice mixture of dark, sharp shadows but still having a shadow-side facade not too dark is something I alway chase and fail at.

Any tips on ow to re-create such an effect?

I think the commenter was asking if the original artist used AI enhancements on the image

This is a fair question seeing as the images are soo... amazingly beautiful and realistic.

I suppose it probably does use AI enhancements, but it's very subtle and well done if so.

Nice images in any case!

Wow Maru,

I will certainly test this out.

Non-ironically is funny - I gotta say I'm a HUGE fan of chatGPT/AI and coding. I've found it immensely helpful, it's absolutely insane what it has allowed me to build with very little tangible coding skills.

Thanks, I will test this out asap.

The course looks great. I haven't purchased yet as I don't have the time right now to get through it. (And I'm trying to step away from traditional rendering)

However, to answer the original question; I use AI every day. If it's not for plant + people + sky + fabric enhancements it's for concept design, brainstorming, texture creation, background image refinement, image feedback/criticism, plug-in scripting, troubleshooting. So, not just visual AI but text and code based too. I was anti-ai to begin with (still kinda am) but have found it to be an irreplaceable component of my daily workflow.

My understanding is that only users with Licences can use CIE?

Even if I'm incorrect, for someone to use a CXR file (in it's full capacity; light mix for example) it still requires non-corona users to install CIE, right?

I'm wondering if anyone has built either a web-app or simple CIE-light app that can allow a client of mine to play with my rendered light-mix?

If not, how difficult - with intermediate skills - do you think it'd be for me to build a web app to allow for light-mix capabilities similar to that in CIE?
