You're welcome! I did accidentally do the same thing myself a couple of times (using the auto install, and so erasing my other installs), so I learned fast haha! Glad you have it all up and running now :)

General CG Discussion / Re: Texture Archive

For one workstation the best way is to have everithing in an internal NVME SSD (project files + library).

TBH i would love yo hear more of the process of that since i use 4K and path tracer, like how much of a difference in accuracy would you gain in using 2 Path tracers. i understand that it's scene-dependent, but are you gaining accuracy at the expense of more time in the render only?

[Max] General Discussion / Path Tracing always as Secondary GI Solver
« Last post by Mr.White on Yesterday at 11:07:31 »
I've been wondering over the last few days if it makes any sense to always use Path Tracer as the secondary GI solver. I am aware that in some scenes it is better suited (few bounces / outdoor scenarios) and in others not (more bounces / interiors)

The idea was that I always want to have as unbiased a solution as possible. I accept longer render times for this.

Now my question: Is it “worth it” or are the differences so marginal that it makes no sense? Are there any experiences or opinions here? I would very much appreciate feedback here. Thank you!

General CG Discussion / Texture Archive

I have a technical question about archive textures:
where do you store the textures ? (I have only one workstation).
I have heard about NAS and I don't know if I should buy one; I have all the textures saved on an external hard disk;
but I have not understood if this causes slow down my rendering times or just the loading of the scene.

Thanks
Matteo

[C4D] I need help! / TEAM RENDERING ISSUE - PLEASE HELP!
« Last post by wardy_mk on Yesterday at 09:17:24 »
Hello. I have a Mac Studio M1 Ultra as my workstation and I also have a Threadripper 2990WX as a render node. I'm trying to send jobs over to it and set it rendering but I'm getting out-of-memory errors. Even simple files. I have 128GB RAM in there and there's plenty of room on the internal drives so I'm not sure what's going on. I can render a non-corona scene that's very complicated in comparison - no problem. Therefore, I'm assuming it's a Corona issue.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?
Thanks in advance...

It's good that you posted these requests, but unfortunately half a year has passed and there is still no progress in implementing your suggestions :(

[Max] General Discussion / Converting VRayUVWRandomizer

Will CoronaConverter ever implement the conversion of VRayUVWRandomizer map to CoronaMappingRandomizer?
As far as I understand, it is not very difficult to do, since it has been implemented in other third-party converters for a long time.
For example, how it is implemented in the V-RayMax Converter Pro tool from MAXTools:

Thanks Tom - that seems to work.
