[Max] General Discussion / Re: Max extremely slow to close
« on: Yesterday at 13:27:41 »
I remember this from years ago when I worked on a network but now I work locally I don't get this hang. Try this:

If you 3dsmax is hanging, pull out the ethernet cable. Wait about 3-5 seconds, if the problem is resolved then its because of the network/asset location.

If not, carry on.

Yeah, definitely not the case for me.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Corona Layered Mtl + light + front/back
« on: Yesterday at 13:27:10 »
If I have a set-up of a corona multi-material with a CoronaLightMtl as one of the layers and a corona front/back node creating the mask, the light material doesn't show on the backface. Why is this?

If I flip the normals of the object it works as expected (so long as I also flip the front/back colours).

If I disable 'emit light' it works as expected (but obviously without emission).

I know there is a simple fix to this, as described above (flipping the normals and making sure the light is emitted from the 'front' side), but I wonder why this is the case. Is it a bug?

Not sure if this is clear or not, but hopefully the screenshot helps?

Cheers!

Great design AND great renderings. A strangely rare combo. Well done!

Hello everyone, I am a designer from China. I also encountered the problem of slow closing speed of MAX some time ago, but after I used the plug-in to disinfect the file, the problem improved. I have read about the impact of file viruses on the operation of MAX. The virus may be infected after we download the model, and then affect the reading and writing speed of the entire 3DMAX file. If the reading and writing speed of the file is still very slow after anti-virus, I suggest you save it several times before closing the file, and then close 3DMAX. Then use the task manager to close the software directly. I will report this problem to 3DMAX officials later to seek a complete solution.

Which plug-in did you use?

Yeah, that DOF and circular bokeh effect is really nice. Not common in Corona, is it done somehow else?

Agree with the underscore. Not needed.

I think the purpose is to identify which node is being used. If it's a bitmap or CoronaBitmap, for example. Also handy when using the search function in SML.

I like it.

I'm not what I would call a 'Pro' user of Corona - ie; I don't really make custom scripts that might suffer from this change, so I haven't seen any negative to this.

Looks cleaner and easier for me. And finally, yes, some overall and long-lasting consistency would be good too.

CoronaSlicerMaterial? Would that work?

I stumbled upon another discussion on this topic over in the autodesk forums. No success in fixing it there either.

Same thing here, are we all running Threadrippers?

Yep, I am

Jobs / Re: Rigged asset Job
« on: 2023-05-23, 14:34:51 »
Thanks for the tip.

I did try this once, but couldn't get the downloaded mixamo file to co-operate with the biped. It went very wrong very quick.

Worth trying again, but to be honest I've had a crack at it myself manually and it seems I won't have to outsource this anyway :)

Jobs / Rigged asset Job
« on: 2023-05-23, 10:39:52 »
Hi all,

I have a simple job offer:

I have purchased a robot/cyborg model, it is apparently rigged (biped, I presume).

I just need the robot to be sitting in posed position. Is anyone capable and willing to take this on?

Please PM me with a rough quote and any interest. Many thanks!

Never mind, this is no longer relevant! Thanks anyway

... However, I would gladly use AI with voice control integrated with Corona Renderer in the future. It can also likely accelerate the process of creating animations.

Yes! That begs the question... does it make sense for Corona to make a big pivot? They have, what I would think is, a great foundation to be the company for arch-viz AI. Someone will develop a tool, eventually, for base-model in 3DSmax to AI-image in the very near future. Corona, with it's team, knowledge, client base should be the one to get in front.

In my opinion it should be a hybrid of the current max/c4d + corona set-up and AI. Ie; we can still do UVW mapping but rather than rendering it in the traditional sense Corona AI generates it based on our 'prompt' (aka, the uv mapping). Surely this would be the way?

Sorry to hijack the original post... this has just been on my mind a lot lately.

A bit like Google Maps showing you the best route with the shortest drive or the one most scenic right into the lake ;- ).

I know this is likely an 'Office' reference... but still a bit disconcerting knowing you've been driving around Norway a lot recently. Are the machines still dry, Juraj?
