Are you asking why you need anything other than black to dark grey for the diffuse channel?

I like the PG ones although it took me a while to figure them out. To be honest i often use ones from sIBL archive as theyre free and they have alot of decent high res ones

Kudos on putting that much detail in an autocad drawing!! Can i ask why you dont use revit? Just out of curiosity?

It looks to me like the cad has been generated from Revit. Could you not get hold of the revit file?
I might be wrong but the detail indicated looks like something revit would shove out.

Well in my team we look after a retail estate of about 600 stores. We have max models and cad files for each of these stores but we also work on live projects within them and figuring out the latest file is often hard to do and seeing a changelog for each file would be realy useful. The max files are anywhere in the range of a few mb to 1gb+ depending on the content and the size of the store.

Im looking at implementing version control into our design viz pipeline at work and im trying to get my head around what is required in terms of setup and stuff for a version control system like perforce before i get too deep into it. Can anyone offer any advice on how one would go about using version control on a private server with max?

Thanks
Jack

I find that viewport performance increases dramatically when you convert your VIZBlocks to splines.

Does the cpu potentially need a certain amount of memory per thread to do its operations therefore the more threads you have the more ram you need?

OT/ Did you seriously drop 4000$ and made a 40thread machine with just 16 gigs of RAM?

Ondra is right, Corona will chew that up and spit it out in an error message shaped ball on big scenes and itll only slow you down in the long run. Those processors can take what, 4 sticks per cpu?. 64GB Or nah.

I believe they are working on standalone lightmix in the future. You can save out all lightmix passes and adjust them in photoshop yourself

You should be able to resume the render from file in the corona settings but make sure you are in the same camera as you were when you initially rendered otherwise it wont work. You can load it in by going to render settings > scene > resume from file.
