I did some tests and found out that Corona Scatter don't rendering with /Render to Selection/ and /Exlude-Include/ modes.
Corona version: 1.3 DailyBuild Sep 14 2015, Maxsdk version: 2015
Also Some problems with memory managing in distribute mode rendering on slaves/ especially when using displacement/

It works, but you have to select or include instanced objects itself not a CScatter icon. That is much more convenient method, because you can freely choose what to include in case you scattered multiple items.

It's not very comfortable and intuitive.
It is more convenient to scatter too was rendered itself.
