Does Corona see difference in terms of resource efficiency between workflow shown in attached images A and B? Does it load same bitmap multiple times in case A?

Interesting question. You should be able to find out by loading a high res texture (like a 1GB file) and run a render.

From what I know other renderers do load a map only once, even if they are not instanced or nested in different places etc. As long as the filename/path is the same it's loaded only once. I have no clue what happens when they're loaded with a different gamma, though.

As far as I remember, when I asked the same question Ondra told me that even though the map is not loaded x times, the filtering is done for each map separately, thus increasing rendertime.
Any sufficiently advanced bug is indistinguishable from a feature.

there will be no observable difference between the two.
