I have a scene (NDA stuff, can't share, can try to replicate) of a huge seascape, a couple of km across. I have clouds over it, with a corona material as per the instructions in the excellent FAQ. These clouds are displaced with a cell map, between two and five meters. Now, when I change the size of the cell map, only just a little bit, the displacement seemingly goes away. How can this be?

Hi, does this happen in interactive rendering or in regular rendering too?

I believe it is both. I'll see if I can replicate with pictures later today.

hi,
any progress? Does the polycount (shown in VFB side panel) also changes significantly after you tweak the texture?

Hi, sorry about not getting back to you, it has been a bit stressful. I'll try to recreate the scene right away. =)

I'll attach a screenshot of how it looks like when I change the UV to 1x1 while in interactive mode. The displacement does not change.

Interesingly, if I try with a cellular map on the exact same scene, the cell map simply displaces the mesh uniformly, not with the values from the cell map. Seems to be a specific thing with the cell map -> displacement. If I route the cell map to the RGB it looks fine.

Checked. I don't see anything suspicious here other than displacement not updating when changing map parameters in IR. That's why I asked if this happens in IR mode only. Because it works fine in regular rendering, right?
