Hi!

I'm working on a 3000 frames animation now and I have a few questions!

1. If my goal is to render each frame with 20 passes when I do the final rendering, do I achieve any better quality by rendering a single frame to 100 passes when saving the uhd precomputation file?

2. Its seems like the precomputation method works pretty well even though I have some walking people in the scene as well as some ports that's animated. Is that since the direct lightning creates the shadows?

3. What's the most easy way to create a preview render of the animation? Even if I use a white material and mtl override, turn off the trees and lower the resolution to 400x120 I still have about 1.5 min rendertime (to pass 10), which is 1,5 days if I use my slave as well.

Ive tried the grab viewport in 3dsmax, but it just hangs...(the scene is incredible heavy)

Best Regards Patrik

Hi,
#1: no, the cache is computed only during precomp, after that it does not change
#2: it is not guaranteed to work on paper, but that does not mean it wont sometimes work. IF there are no artifacts, then there is no reason not to use it ;)
#3: no obvious solution comes to mind, sorry

But I mean does it matter if I do the precomputation over 5 passes or 100 passes?
When rendering the final animation with 20 passes/frame and the "load from file" option?

still the same, the cache will look the same after 5 or after 100 passes
