Hey guys,

I've got a scene which when rendered with version 1 is coming out massively over exposed.  Opened the same scene on another machine with 7.2 and its rendering correctly (as previously).  Checked all the settings and they all seem the same.  Except the output im getting is different.

Am using a vrayhdri shader with for the sky environment, not sure iof this is the cause or not.

Any ideas? Anyone else had this?

Cheers

Is there a camera with CoronaCamera modifier in your scene? The exposure controls were redesigned so maybe you need to switch to photographic exposure in render settings?

I'm just using tone mapping and not photographic exposure in the render settings or on the camera.

Which version of 3ds max are you using?

Check color tint under Tone mapping controls. Sometimes it changes when switching between older and newer Corona versions.

Same colour tint..white.

I think it might be due to the VrayHDRI.  Tested with normal corona sun and corona sky, and i get the same result.  Tested again with a standard hdri as the sky (no vrayhdri) and i get the same result.

Seems to be obeying the fact an HDRI is loaded using VrayHDRI,  but ignoring the multiplier settings and rotation etc

Eventually solved this with the help of Mr Peter Guthrie.  The only value that corona seems to be ignoring is the 'Render Multiplier' in the VrayHDRI shader.

We had a similar problem at work when opening previous corona scenes and eventually noticed the render multiplier was not working in the vray hdri loader anymore which is annoying need a corona hdri loader!

Have noticed another issue though and wondering if you guys have encountered the same problem. When converting scenes from v7.2 to corona v1 with the same settings we are noticing a lot more noise or lack of samples particularly in the direct light from the hdri this seems to be an issue when there is more corona lights in the scene, is there a max number of corona lights now or something wrong with vray hdri loader? Have started increasing the light sample multiplier which seems to help a bit but can’t understand why I should need to increase this when previously default value of 2.0 worked fine in v7.2 version?

Cheers,
Steve

I am moving this to resolved as VrayHDRI is not our map and our own optimized bitmap loader is already in the works.

If you have any reproducible cases of Corona 1.0 being slower than Alpha 7, then please create a new bug report thread about this issue. We would love to take a look at it.

if the map works correctly in other renderers but not in corona, I would still like to look at it. Can somebody confirm it?
Rendering is magic. How to get minidumps for crashed/frozen 3ds Max | Sorry for short replies, brief responses = more time to develop Corona ;)
