Maybe something I am doing wrong but here goes, installed 1.0. Opened 7.2 scene, go to camera and render. All good its rendering. Go to perspective viewport and change view, hit render again and max crashes.

I tried with running conversion script change legacy mode off and on same result.

Is there something that I need to do to bring my old 7.2 scenes forward to 1.0?

Thanks!

best,
Matt

Further testing, it does not seems to matter what scene, for instance 7.2 scenes I was rendering yesterday. Render once, stop render. Render again, crash.

I've just installed my workstation and rendernodes to 1.0, I've opened two 7.2 scenes and rendered them twice and 20 times, without problems.

Hm, not sure what it is. Fresh scene plane and box. One light, render a couple of times fine. Then open material editor - crash max. Have been running corona rock steady for about 8 months to a year? No problem, these are infact the first render related crashes I have had...

Will try a restart and see if that does it.

Anyway, super crashy right now, restarted machine. Open scene, render a couple of times, open material editor, its OK, then get new material, max crash. If anyone has any ideas that would be great. Will test on some other computers. - If it helps I am running Max 2014

Hi,
can you send me some of the minidumps 3ds max generates upon crash? You can see their location when you click on "view details" on the 3dsmax CER screen, and I can analyze them to find out what is wrong

Hi Ondra, that would be much appreciated, that was my main render station :( I'll have to roll back to 7.2. Anyway I would appreciate any input that would be great.

Best,
Matt

Hi Ondra, thanks for being there!

I hope I created the dump in the correct way, when max crashed I right clicked on the service for 3dsmax and said create mini dump. Hope thats what you wanted. I will also attach the max dump as well. This was with the 1.01 build.

thanks!

Matt

Dear Ondra,

I was able to recreate the crash on a different machine. Lenovo dual xenon 2.8 8 core windows 8.1. I opened a previous 7.2 scene that rendering fine - different one from the previous crash. I render with the camera view. Then move to perspective, hit the render button and crash. Please see the attached dump file.

Thanks!

Best,
Matt

Im beginning to think that its windows 8.1 specific. My other three windows 7 boxes don't crash only the two 8.1 boxes....

Does it crash on render start, or render end? It seems all the crashes are at render end. Is interactive rendering involved?
