If you asking about last image workflow that setup is:
GI: default.
Material: maxblend with 'metal' ior 20 dif 0.0.0 glossy 0.9 anisotropy 0.9 + blurred layer with ior 2 + bump with procedural noise.
Lights: two emitters. One 2700k and second 8000k.

@headoff mind sharing your settings for extreme DOF ? or is it all done in post?

I find it really really hard to get rid of extreme noise when using f-stop of 2, while having things like couch/curtains in the background.

I don't know if I need to crank the internal res up or what to adjust anymore, none of it really seems to fix the problem, even after 150-200 passes its still veeeery noisy and grainy.

Cheers

Hi, snakebox!
Just wait for much more passes. Sometimes it maybe even 1000 (;

Haha right then... so much for some crazy technical setup and tweaking :p  Just wait for 1000 passes to complete.. Hell if it works I will give it a go for sure ;)

(;
i have tried to write there but...
just should do test and see)
for heavy-heavy DOF need to set GI/AA 2-4 and wait-wait-wait...
and realy bucket now a little better then progressive for DOF but with minimal threshold if you want get a clean bokeh
