I have just spent weeks learning about 3ds Max Shaders and how to use them and now I am back to square one.
Never heard of these shaders... will research further.

I am having trouble with Corona Mats... I want to love them but I much prefer Standard Materials.
There is no info on how to use them.

Thanks for your help :)

Hello! I just installed A7 on 3DS Max 2012, and I can't see this under advanced options. What could be the problem, and is there any way around it available to me?

I see. Would the Path Tracing Samples and Bounces be part of the dailies as well?

Thanks!

Hi guys!
I work with corona for some time, but only today I've noticed this parameter (see the attachment) which is visible only in slate mode of mat editor and only under Additional Params rollout. I'll be very grateful if somebody can tell what each number of BRDF parameter means (0-3)? And why this parameter is hidden so deep ?))

What?

Path tracing samples: you mean GI/AA samples in main settings?
Bounces: ray depth in main settings?

Sorry for ggx, I keep forgetting that some features are in dailies only. :)
To me GGX looks more "pearly" and "metallic". A-S looks more plastic-like.

Because you don't need to pay attention to it, there was none. If it's told the default (keep everything as it,don't touch) works great, it does. Corona doesn't have magic buttons being hidden anywhere.

Up to 7.2, it was hidden, and worked great. Default that is. (Ashikmin-Shirley BRDF)

From now on (Daily builds to final 1.0 version), you don't need to touch it either, it works even better (GGX BRDF).

Thanks Maru! I'm only beginning to try out Corona, and plenty of the terms are still a little fuzzy to me. I look forward to trying GGX out soon as well. :)

Corona is great and actually I never needed this switcher working with Corona, I didn't have problem with material creation (except case with anisotropic reflection). I just was thinking - maybe I miss somthing useful? I read about GGX BRDF in Corona, I don't have Daily builds, but  I'm looking forward to try all new features announced by Corona team in Corona 1.0

uwelcome
I agree with Juraj and Maru - use default bcse it's realy pretty good looks in compare with other brdfs
After release you will not want to use any brdf apart from GGX (;

Firstly, hooray... thanks for the info on BRDF's.
Secondly, why put it there if it aint worth touching. The Corona rollout is mind bloggling. I don't know any of it.... what to put where..?

There needs to be more info on what all this does. I have reached the limits of my abillty cos I don't know the facts and I am experimenting blindly. If Corona Mats are better than Standard mats (as everyone keeps
banging on about) show us why.... (or show me cos I'm dim).
