For the work with the Corona-render I once made a few tests. The model of the birch is from Evermotion. I wanted to test the materials (transformation and adaptation of the original Vray materials). Illuminated only with HDRI.

Here's a render image to test the displacement map. With the result but I'm not satisfied: A few corners are up and out.

U mas chek three things, subdivision in the settings and the poly count and size on the mesh and the bitmap quality

Larger number of polys = smoother result
Larger number of subdivs per poly = precise result+smoother result
Blured bitmap = smoother result.
