Hi, everyone.  This project was about a month or so in the making; it is a re-make of a scene I had originally created while attending school about a year ago, but has undergone various changes over the course of it's evolution.  If you would like to see the entire build of this scene, there's a full-featured WIP thread over in the 3D Modeling forum on Renderosity, which follows the build of this shot, from concept to final render passes.  Along the way, I've also offered up some of the models I made for this scene (most of which never made it to the final shot) for free, on various resource websites for all to use, including the texture maps.  The final render was done with Corona A6 in several pass elements, and composited in Photoshop for color grading.

A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

I just miss some little spec/gloss on the "handles" of the tool. I could now identify if it´s made of wood or painted iron... Maybe a little bit of masking with a crackeled varnish  onthe edges, or some parts.

CRAZY work with the "Glass/Silicon" shaders, and all that wood chips. Is it spreaded with particle Flow ? MassFx ? Scatter ?

Thank you very much.  I learned quite a bit about certain materials through this project, especially in regard to how Corona handles reflection color and refraction/translucency maps.  I think in future projects, I'll nail down some better worn wood materials, but the polycarbonate was surprisingly simple.  I used an IOR of 1.58, and a some hand-painted smudge/scratch/normals maps created in 3dCoat, and let Corona work it's magic.  I did use Ddo for some of the imperfections on the hand plane, but most of the scratches were painted with photoshop brushes in 3Dcoat.

The wood chips and debris was done mostly with Corona scatter.  I placed some standard plane primitives around the scene, on top of some of the other objects, using Autogrid for placement in Max.  The planes ranged in size and segment number, and served only as the distribution objects for the Corona Scatter.  I also applied variation in scale and rotation through the Corona Scatter tool parameters.  There were 10 different pieces of debris used as scatter objects; each piece modeled with poly techniques and modifiers slightly differently, and each contained a slight variation in texture color.  Then I used some Maxscript, which is very similar to the "Select and Place" tool in 3dsmax 2015 to manually place more debris where I wanted it, by hand, around the scene, and on top of object surfaces.

At first, I did attempt to use Pflow to scatter the debris, but workflow in the viewport was not as comfortable, and my system began to slow quickly, unless I only showed a fraction of them in viewport.  With Corona scatter, I was able to maintain 100% of the 80,000 + instances visible as Pre-Viz boxes in the viewport, while I modeled more of the scene, which helped with placement and intersections.

Do you have your final imagem with a link outside Corona´s forum ? I would like to post it on my Corona Group on Facebook. The CoronaBR. Your DevianArt Worklog don´t have your final version yet... :)

Nice, but it has some flaws. Like the pencil - it's a very important part of the image but the bump seems wrong to me. It could also have some "dirt" - like shredded edges (AO?) or cracks. The sawdust springs could benefit from SSS or at least translucency and they could be thinner. Same with paper. But generally the image is very good, congratulations for finishing it!!

Really like this concept... My father was carpenter and cabinetmaker, and i'm very sensitive to this kind of art work.
I'd like to have time to make an entire workshop and your work gave me desire to do it !
Congratulations
