There was discussion with labwerk trees and material converter involved. Maybe you'll find some valuable info there: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,1366.0.html

Yes, it is known as bug that tif and some other formats do not work properly when contains alpha channel: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,2570.0.html
Your best bet would be resave those textures without alpha and save alpha as separate texture. You also may get significant gain in render time, doing this way: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,4249.msg30047.html#msg30047

Hi there,

since we're working on supporting Corona directly for our upcoming 1.0.12 update, I though I'd chime in. When you convert manually, please note that Laubwerk Plants already come with additional separate alpha textures. They have the same name as the color textures with embedded alpha with an added "_a" in the name.

Furthermore, if you'd like to try a beta of our Freebie Kit with Corona material support, please get in touch with us at: support@laubwerk.com

Hi there,

it's been a while, but just in case you haven't noticed, yet: The Plants Kit 1.0.12 update has been released in December and it does set up Corona materials automatically with proper alpha.

Hi, I've just sent a mail to info@laubwerk about it, but from what I'm seeing, all the opacity maps are improperly plugged into Fresnel IOR slots, which in turn makes max crash whenever I try to render. Manually reassigning it to opacity map slots solves the issue, but it's a huge hassle.

Hi there,

actually the ids for pretty much all of the map slots and parameters have changed with the Corona 1.0 release. Therefore Laubwerk Plants work fine with all versions before Corona 1.0, but have the problem you described with 1.0 (sigh). We're right now working on getting this fixed (in a way that would also still work with older versions) for the 1.0.14 update that's due soon.

So sorry for the inconvenience!

Np, what matters is that you're aware of it. I'm sure it will be fixed soon. :)

We just released the 1.0.14 update, so Laubwerk Plants should work just fine again with Corona 1.0.

There is a short press release here:
http://www.laubwerk.com/home/surfacespread-plants-kits-update/

If you haven't tried Laubwerk Plants, yet, you can get the Plants Kit Freebie here:
http://www.laubwerk.com/store/plants-kit-freebie/

If you have further questions or suggestions, please go ahead and send us feedback at support@laubwerk.com. The same goes if you did something particularly impressive with Laubwerk and Corona. We love to see what people do with Laubwerk Plants!
