Looks like good old mental ray, what are you using for lighting setup?

This was all done in Corona, not mental ray.

Light settings I used default setup for the progressive render.

Did not use any ies files

have about 9 Corona Disk lights under the cabnets.

about 30 Corona sphere lights in the cabinet open glass areas. Used spheres because the disk and rectangle were coming in a a big shape that could not be hidden for some reason.

Two Rectangle lights above the stairs

One light in the hallway

2 lights on the back wall the scene shining on the back wall then filling the room.

There is a Corona Sun and sky being used.

One light about the Windows to help highlight the stools better.

My Candelas Values for the interior light might be too strong.  I think I have the 3 main lights above the Island at about 6000 each.

I think u can enhance your lighting by using HDRI instead of corona sky+sun, und you can easyly remove half of your ligts inside the glased cupboards for start.

I am confused.

I understand how the HDRI can help light the outside differently and better  (that being said I really like the corona sky options)
and let better enviroment light in through the windows.  But how can it take out the need for the lighting in the cabinets, as these are track lights for the display cabinets.

Maybe I am just not understanding.

You must start by ajusting lighting from outside using overide mtl for everything except the windows and using basic colormaping.

And only when you are happy with the result start to place artaficial lighting.

If it is hard to you to difine how your lithing should look like u cant try to search for photo for refference and try to copy the lithing from this photo, i always searching for the refference from the real world.

For example in the picture below i used 5 light sources + HDRI
