We are having a recurrent problem around here, sometimes after a period of user inactivity in 3dsmax, when we render an interactive or normal render it takes AGES to clean, it starts using the hdd 100% for a while, we are not using out of core textures, the machines have 128gb of ram and the scene is using 63% of it according to task manager.
Is this expected ? any way to not have it behave like this ?

More info would be necessary here - Corona version, Max version, OS version (including updates, so not just "Win 11") and CPU.

Are you saving autosaves or render history? (the settings are in Render Setup > System > System Settings) These files can take up a lot of HDD space, especially if you are rendering in high resolution with multiple render elements.

Other than that, what you are describing sounds like paging memory to the HDD, which would mean that you are running out of RAM. You are not getting the "system running low on RAM" error message?
