Hi all

Is there any chance that Chaos could develop a plugin version of Corona for Houdini, specifically in the LOPs/USD context?

It would be an absolute dream to have this incredibly easy-to-use and fast CPU renderer available in Houdini. I genuinely believe that, from a financial standpoint, it would be a highly profitable move. I'm sure there are many users who would gladly purchase a license. At the moment, there's no real alternative, Karma is extremely slow, and Renderman is also painfully slow, to the point of being practically unusable.

Years ago, I had an amazing experience using Corona with 3ds Max, and I feel that Chaos, as a company, is missing out on significant untapped potential, both financially and in terms of brand recognition.

I'm honestly surprised there aren't more posts like this. What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading, cheers!

Unfortunately, there are no plans to develop Corona for any other DCCs than the two currently supported - this is because it would cause a significant slowdown in Corona's development and updates for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D due to the dev hours that would have to be spent on a conversion, and that's something that would be counter-productive. Curious as to why you don't list V-Ray as a real alternative? Maybe there's some feedback that can be given to the V-Ray for Houdini team? https://chaosvray.ideas.aha.io/?project=VHOUDINI for suggestions! Or the Chaos forums for bugs. Thanks!
