Hi all,

What render managers do you lot use?

We've used Renderpal for years but as it's no longer being developed, any issues I have to fix myself.

And if the server system dies we lose Renderpal as it's locked to the hardware ID.

----

Deadline

Looks good..... and I think is free but there is a load of random/technical info out there that has made it difficult for me to understand if it is in fact free, how to get it, install it , use it.

Pulse RenderFlow (was Render Manager)

This looks ideal, but is a subscription and have seen people say they've moved to Deadline because it was annoying them.... not sure why.

---

If Deadline is free, is there anyone who can point me in the right direction for setup/usage instructions?

I find that anything that's a part of AWS seems to be written up in a way that old & tired people (like me) can't understand.

Thanks

I would suggest trying various managers and finding the one which suits your needs best.

For Deadline, you need to create an account on their page or sign in, and then you should be able to find Deadline download in your profile. This link might work: https://us-east-1.console.aws.amazon.com/deadlinecloud/home?region=us-east-1#/thinkbox
You are right, I had to randomly browse various websites to find it, it's not the most intuitive way to download software. :)

I've been quite happy with pulze's render and scene manager. It's a nice synergy and for scenes with multiple shots the scene manager is a god sent.

I'd say 95% of the time it just works and it's very easy to setup and get going.

I haven't tried deadline, so can't comment on that.

I use Deadline, its pretty solid. Not sure if they support the latest versions of max but I prefer it over anything else I've used. A little tricky to get going but after that you are golden.

I tested Pulze, was a good option, I still prefer Deadline though currently.
