Hello everyone,

So I always had this issue where the facades of buildings appear brownish or yellowish due to the colors of the HDRIs I am using. Clients want to see the accurate color of the reference while also desiring a dusk or end-of-the-afternoon HDRI. I understand that this may not be physically correct, but it is a client requirement.

Is there a way to utilize a Rayswitch material or map to ensure that the facades receive white light while the other objects maintain the original HDRI lighting?

I appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to achieve this.

Thank you

Absolutely.

Either use a color corrected HDRI for lighting, or maybe even desaturated version of it.
Or simply use white CoronaSun for scene lighting, keep HDRI for overrides if necessary.

Thnak you for your reply.

If I use a desaturated HDRI it will affect the whole scene. I want to iluminate the facades with white lighting while all the other elements in the scene receive the colorfull light from the dusk HDRI

Thanks

That can be done with per light object include/excludes.
If you want white light for specific objects, create white light (sun, coronalight etc.) and include only these objects for the white light.

Environment from "colorful" HDRI will still illuminate the facades, but if you play around with the "white" light (it can be slightly blueish or with another tint to cancel out the yellow/other color tint from HDRI), you can get expected results.
