Hi All, trying to include 2 backplates in an interior view ( day / night ) but I cant seem to get it to work, it only shows the front backplate. Any idea if this is possible and how to set it up ?

If you are using 1 object with 2 different lights/material, then you need to animate this (or animated with 2 different objects), there is no way to do it through lightmix.

no its 2 objects. one in front of the other. So 2 cylinders external around the windows, front cylinder is the night backplate, behind that a day backplate.

I can get it to work if I want one room to be day and one to be night by hiding the one backplate via the camera, but cant get lightmix to switch off the individual backplates

Yes, it should be either hidden (per camera or for a view), as lightmix cannot "unsee" a lightmix layer simply by turning it off. Or the workarounds I shared above.

Using geometry as backplates in Corona is not recommended for multiple reasons. Instead, I would suggest using the "multiple maps" feature in scene environment settings. This way you can load multiple environment maps, generate LightMix, and get control over the two (or more) environments.
