Hi there!,

I was following a Youtube tutorial about creating an interior scene today. Just for the fun and learn some new things. Coming to the lighting i recognized a massive slowdown in Corona IR. It takes 15-20 seconds just to start rendering in the IR. Making an update takes even longer.

What it did
_Merged the old file in to a new one and imported just the geometry.
_Stripped the scene to a bare minimum. Deleted all scatters, all decorations and all unnecessary objects.
_Applied material overwrite with a standard corona material.
_Inserted a sun and sky

--> Same problem again.

I tested older client files and the corona sample scene (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=4354.0) and there all is working fine again without any slowdowns. I added the stripped file as an attachment.

W10 / latest Corona build / 3dsmax 2015 - all up to date
11700k , 48gb RAM

What is wrong with the file?

Greetings
Hannes

In the Environment and Effects – Atmosphere section, there are numerous unnecessary fire effects. Remove them.

Thank you. Never thought about that, i never use the the effects rollout. I guess a marged object must have had these settings.

Works like a charm again :)

Greetings

Here is a script which removes all 3ds Max atmospheric effects. I will also report:
- detecting the effects (since they may slow down rendering and are hard to pinpoint)
- adding the effects removal to the Corona Power Tools Scene Cleaner

(Report ID=CMAX-1488)

Thanks for the script. I created a RenderPreset with an empty scene und imported the preset into the other scene. Also cleaned all the effects :) .
