Hello!

I have a question regarding the corona pattern.
I am using a certain shape of a tile as my pattern to be spread over a large floor surface. This tile consists of 3 different stone materials.
The client has requested some randoomisation in the colors of the stones as it is scattered over the surface.

Is there any way to go about doing this?

The multimap doesnt seeem to work with the corona pattern for some reason, or maybe im doing something wrong.

Any Help would be highly appreciated! Thanks a ton

You can try the "by mesh element" randomization, but it's not perfect. Actually, yesterday I personally reported the ability to randomize CPattern tiles with Multimap and Mapping Randomizer. :)

You can also log this at the Ideas Portal so that other users can vote - https://chaoscorona.ideas.aha.io/

Yes i already figured the 'by mesh element'

BUT

My problem is, the pattern should repeat with the edges to be continued as 'one' element and when i use this rendomisation effect, it basically divides my tiling and you can see the split in the middle of the actual stone there should be

I guess i will just do some post pro

It would be nice if the randomisation can consider the element as a following object onto the next tile, and use the same randomisation on the whole thing

Thanks Tom. That's a shame. Is there any possibility this feature will come to pattern? Essentially allowing an interlocking non square source shape. It would need to offset alternate rows by 50%. I cant seem to get the randomiser to do this even with stepping, unless Im missing something?

It was declined.

Unfortunately, this falls into the "practically impossible" category, in that there is likely some way to do it (so it isn't "impossible even in theory"), but it would take a massive investment of development time to get there. It would have to be an entirely different system, not just a modification of what is there already. This means we are not planning on considering this, sorry. The same reply has been given a few times over on the forum when such a suggestion has come up."

Yes, unfortunately, this is technically impossible.

There is some hacky way to get seamless randomization with Corona pattern. Check this message and see if you can apply that technique to your task: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=37437.msg226355#msg226355
