Hi!

Just bought a brand new 9950x workstation. I asked for 128gb of ram, but didnt specify more than that since im no expert.  I can now see that the store put in 4x32gb of fast DDR5 memory 6000 Mhz, but its only running at 3600 Mhz according to the bios.  I tried enabling EXPO in the bios but that simply caused the computer not to boot at all.  After a bit of googeling I found out that its difficult, maybe impossible, to run 4 sticks of ram at that speed for some reason.  But if they had used 2x64 GB they should have been able to run them at 5000-6000 Mhz.  A rookie mistake it seems.
So - before I start bugging the store about this asking them to change it to 2x64gb instead - how much will the faster ram affect my working in max, and or my rendertimes? Or will it affect anything else?   I have in the past only bothered with having enough ram to avoid crashes, never thought much about the speeds.

Thanks in advance,
K

how are you enjoying your new build all in all? And what was your old one? I'm thinking about a new workstation with the 9950x too :)

We have multiple reports of problems with 9950X CPU - https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=43755.0
We are not sure what is causing them. I would advise getting a different CPU until we know what exactly is happening. It seems to be related to Windows Update.
