Hello,

I recently updated to the latest version of Corona, but I encountered a bug/problem. As you can see in the screenshot, we have the same product three times but with different render results.

On the far left, I have a single material. For the product in the middle, I used a Multi/Sub-Object material with two materials, which are actually the same. On the front face of my product, I assigned ID 2 to target the second material. However, we see a difference in the render even though it should match the result of the product on the left.

I’m doing this to apply a bump map to the front face, which is something I used to do frequently without any issues. But now, as soon as I assign two materials in a Multi/Sub-Object, it doesn’t render correctly.

I had to find a workaround for the problem, but I wanted to know if others are experiencing the same issue with the same version of Corona as me. Is this normal, or is it a bug with Corona?

(I intentionally copied the material from the product on the left to show you that there is indeed a problem. In version 11, when I do exactly the same thing, I get the same render as the one on the left.)

Thank you in advance.

Best

Hi,

Are you sure that this exact setup has worked in the previous versions? AFAIK multiple refractive materials plugged into multimap were always problematic in Corona. Your best bet would be try to replace multi-material setup to multi-map one. That way there should be no known issues and limitations.

Enabling the Development/Experimental Stuff rollout and experimenting with combinations of the following options could "help":
- Use legacy medium resolving
- Use material-based medium resolving

Hi ,

thank you for your feedback, thanks to your help, I was able to actually find the option that is causing the problem on version 12, you simply have to uncheck use material-based medium resolving and I have a rendering as before.

Otherwise the multimap option also works.

Hi,

Please note that if you are opening a scene which was created before opening it with Corona 12 Update 1, and it was rendering as expected, it should render the same innb Corona 12 Update 1 - material based medium resolving should be automatically checked/unchecked depending on how the scene was created.

But if you merged the scene into a new one, difference in rendering may be expected depending on the settings.
