SO in theory, when i change
#of threads ovveride (-3)  Corona should not use 3 (threads?)

But in task manager during IR all threads are 100%....

Also - would it be posibble (and in my opionion would be game changer for Corona productivity - which is insanley BAD and SLOW at the moment) that we could set up corona IR to NOT use 2 first CORES. Becasue... you know 3dsmax UI uses them...
? Am i wrong?

Thanks!

Don't look at task manager to evaluate CPU utilization, i don't think it's very accurate at all. Out of the interest i run short test with various thread override settings to see if it has any effect. At default settings -1 which is 31 threads for my CPU, the test was completed in 61s, at 24 threads the time increased to 109s, at 16 threads it was 149s and at 8 threads - 269s. So the graph might not be linear, but threads restriction is clearly working and interestingly the task manager in all cases but the 8 threads run, was showing 100% CPU utilization. At 8 threads it was showing 80-90% utilization. I also tried to set threads override to 0 to see if that will have any effect, but there was no meaningful improvement - 59s. By the way viewports interaction remain the same at any settings, which is relatively smooth for me. If you have very high threads count CPU, your experience might be very different, but the main point of my post is that Windows task manager is probably not the right tool to evaluate your CPU utilization during interactive rendering.

Here i have to agree with you, material editor responsiveness is bad at whatever settings, it is slow even when IR is not running. Users are asking to improve it all the time. Hopefully that time will come sooner rather than later.

Note there was a bug, resolved internally, where negative numbers in the count of cores to be used in interactive was not working properly, and a few other scenarios where the value in the IR core count was not being respected. This fix will be in the final release, if not in an earlier RC.

This feature works well with IR with Corona 10HF2 for me, but is there a way to get rid of the annoying message "The system has 128 cores, but Corona is configured to use only xxx ..."?
As it constantly shows up every time I start 3ds Max.
