I have VRay and corona installed. I just canceled my VRay sub to move to Corona so I technically have both lic currently. I will be converting a lot of VRay assets during the next few weeks and when I run the scene converter - I assume this is the way - all the maps get deleted out from the scene manager and the materials only have sharers not maps.

What is the workflow for vray-corona mat conversion?

Hello there.
I think you might be interested in the following post, as this is a topic previously discussed: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=42289.msg223090#msg223090
You can look for additional related threads here in our forums where users may have suggestions about it.
I hope this helps.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience.
Have an amazing day/evening.

I'm trying to get a sense of whether this is normal and how useful or not the scene converter is for materials. Do you have any experience with it. Honestly, the other discussion is not super helpful. The scene converter for VRay is not very useful for example, but the material one is, so I'm trying to nail that down.

Regardless, thanks for the reply.

Hi @wolfgang,

Please consider that the tool is getting mayor improvements, and the support for shaders, materials, etc., will vary until then.
You can double-check our official documentation portal to learn more about the tool.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Have an amazing day/evening.

And not to forget that Corona can render quite a few V-Ray materials without any conversion :) You just can't edit them is the thing.

Thanks for the heads up, apricate your time. It looks like my issue is that the VRay materials I'd like to convert are Node - if I convert to VRay standard or "classic" first its all good but if they are nodes get striped of their textures. Is there any plan to have the converter work with nodes? I'd love to skip this step.  I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm new to Corona after 10y in VRay.
