Hy everyone.
Like the other Testers hereby I open a thread where I will post renders and tests.
I know that my first renders are not as good and sophisticated as those from Josef and thvo82 this is mainly because I tested corona more from the technical side of things making a couple of smaller quick setups to go through the settings etc.

Hope you enjoy those first rough testes though

Cheers,
Raphael

Here´s another Render I did yesterday.

Rendertime was about 45min on an i7 980x for FullHD 1920x1080 px. Took a bit till the bokeh was somewhat clean :-)
I hope you like it!

Some Contrast tweaks in Aftereffects (nothing to fancy)

Cheers,
Raphael

I have no idea how render settings in C4D look, but you can speed up DoF by changing sampling balance. In 3ds Max, it is now called GI/AA balance. In C4D, it could be called PT samples, or something. If you lower it to say 4 (default should be 16), then you focus more samples to AA, instead of secondary bounce effects, and you get DoF clean faster.

Hey Rawalanche:
Thanks a lot for your reply and the tips. I will test this ;-)
I think the setting you are talking about is to be found in the Global illumination rollout in C4D and is called Path Tracing samples (as you said)

I could not get any information about the different solvers and all the other settings such as Max sample intensity since the documentation was moved completely to 3Ds Max.
Really bad decision by Corona if you ask me!

This lack of information makes it almost impossible to optimize rendering!

Well, optimized rendering in corona should generally mean keeping everything at defaults... :D Not sure if defaults in C4D are correct.

I am attaching raw text documentation for 3ds Max render settings. It may be of some help, but then again, a lot of features in C4D may be named wrong. PT samples is not even Global Illumination specific thing, but rather general sampling balance, so i do not understand why it's in GI rollout in C4D.

In the attached documentation, you will find it as GI/AA balance.

Hey Rawalanche... you are my hero! Thank you so much for the document!
No I finally have the chance to get an Idea what the settings do!

Thanks a lot!

p.s. as the Corona C4D is still in Alpha I think some of the settings will change in future. Also only a fraction of coronas features is implemented yet.
And although I only got a glimpse at it even with very important settings like bump or env. maps missing. I am already really satisfied by the quality and simplicity of the engine!

Raphael

Ha ha Nehale... thanks a lot.
I´m sorry to disappoint. I will post stuff as soon as I have time to play around with Corona a some more!
Right now I haven´t had the possibility as I have been busy!
