Does anyone have anywhere I can find a simple tutorial on animating smoke using Corona and Phoenix? The ones on the Chaos site use Vray

Hi, Phoenix is the same Phoenix for both V-Ray and Corona. If you follow a tutorial made for V-Ray, you should get the same results as with Corona. You just need to set up your simulation, run it, and then render it (with V-Ray or Corona). You can find some tutorials here:
https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4MAX/QuickStart+Guides
https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4MAX/Tutorials+and+Examples

You can also use the Phoenix toolbar to create some preset simulations with a single click.

If you are having some specific problems, please let us know or submit a new support ticket at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Thank you. When I asked Coroan support "It seemed that the tutorials on the Chaos site “require Vray”. Will Phoenix work in similar ways with Corona?...So what do you recommend for creating a light smoke effect?", the support person answering me said in the case you want to create a smoke effect, I would recommend using Corona Volume Grid.
Here is our tutorial how to work with it:
t=1
Here is the documentation explaining each and every button: https://docs.chaos.com/display/CRMAX/Corona+Volume+Grid

This method needs an animated .vdb file.  ...So the cache method in Phoenix is much easier and it will save as open vdb files in the output section.

Hi, I was able to find your support ticket #185654. Sorry if the answers you received seemed a bit confusing. If a similar situation occurs in the future, please ask further follow-up questions in your support ticket directly and we will do our best to assist you over there. If needed, we can even get in touch with the Phoenix dev team or other teams.

Phoenix is a simulation software. You can use it to create things like water, fire, smoke, and more.

You can then render those simulations with either V-Ray or Corona. You are not limited to using Phoenix specifically with V-Ray or Corona.

I would suggest starting here to learn the basics of Phoenix: https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4MAX/QuickStart+Guides

Once you are happy with your result (for example a fire or smoke simulation in Phoenix) you can decide whether to render it with V-Ray or Corona.
