Hi, everyone.  I have imported a Revit model to 3DS Max and have set materials and lights.  Several exterior renderings have run successfully, but when I render interiors, they begin normally and then turn black.  To be specific, the alpha channel begins, as does the beauty, but it fails right when the beauty changes from the usual green to real color.

I've run it on two different computers and the same thing happens.  I have double-checked that cameras aren't inside walls and that there are ample light sources and they are visible in some of the exterior renderings.  I've reinstalled the latest versions of Revit, 3DS Max, and Corona without effect.

Thanks for your help.

Did you try to render with default Corona physical material override?

I have some questions:
Which version of Corona and 3ds Max are you using?
Can you share the scene with us?
Are you getting some error message from Corona?

We had this a while back, try to search for TOO far geometry and delete it, if the alpha channel still shows the geometry this is the way to fix it.

Hi,

You can have a look at this thread:
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=40998

your issue sounds almost exactly the same.

The issue was that there was a non-enclosed object with volumetric material, which made Corona misinterpret the mediums, when the camera was below the bounds of that object.

Thanks, all.  I'm looking into your suggestions.  To answer a few questions:

Software versions:  2024 Revit > 2024 3DS Max > Corona 10 (Hotfix 2)
No error message at all.  It keeps rendering but its all black.

Video link of the process:  https://www.loom.com/share/93b452e17ced4b8c9688354243a544d9?sid=afa58943-a7b2-40e6-aacf-e797fa2ba44b

How do I search for 'too far geometry'? Why would that only be a problem on the interior and not the exterior?

I will try the default corona material override and report back.

Can you try to create a new camera, or render from perspective view?

I have been using corona cameras successfully for the exterior renderings and cloned one for an interior view, which failed as described in my post.  I tried creating a corona camera from scratch and it failed.  I tried physical and target cameras and they all failed the same way.  Same for perspective views.

I rendered with the default material override and it doesn't crash.

It's good to know that the scene doesn't crash, but more important - does it render with material override, or it's still a total black frame?

I think at this point it would be quicker and easier for you to pack the scene with all assets, open support ticket at Chaos help portal and upload the scene there for investigation. https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Sorry, I wasn't clear in the previous post.  It renders successfully with the material override, not a black frame.  I only have a few legacy materials that I'm using rather than official Corona materials.  I'm going to delete those one by one and replace them and see if one of those is causing the error.  If that doesn't work, I'll pack the scene and send it to the help portal as you suggest.

Good news: after removing the few materials that are not official corona materials, the error isn't happening anymore and I have run several interior renderings successfully.  Thanks very much for the troubleshooting help.
