Converting Vray Materials & Missing Mtl

Hi all

We've just installed Max 24 & Corona 10. We're having 'Missing Mtl' issues on Vray objects.

Corona Converter also can't convert them. This is obviously because we don't have Vray installed.

We used to have a Vray license but don't anymore. 

When updating the office I didn't bother to install Vray.

Should I have? 

If so, do we need to sign into it or anything?  In the past I'd put our account details in.

Any tips?

A simple sign in and download the V-Ray setup for your 3ds Max version. You don't need to activate it, just having it installed will solve your issue.

This has been done but 5 systems are having issues when rendering an animation.

08/09/2023 12:06:58: 08/09/2023 12:06:55;  Error rendering frame 0: [V-Ray] Could not read V-Ray environment variable "VRAY_FOR_3DSMAX2024_MAIN". Please re-install

I've reinstalled vray on these systems & have opened max (in case it needed to be opened to update a file or something)

This hasn't worked.

I've uninstalled vray on 2 systems and it's now working on those.

I can uninstall vray on the other 3 systems for weekend rendering but does anyone have and idea why?

restart the computer after installing vray to initialize the environment variable.

Weird that I didn't need to restart 6 systems and they worked.

lol yeah I think ive had that work for me without restarting once before, didnt really work out why but glad it fixed your problem.

Always reminds me of this :D
