Hi guys,
can someone explain to me why the cryptomatte comes out jagged?
I attach the image of what I get despite the noise being at 3%, official version 10 of corona.

Quote from the cryptomatte help page in Chaos portal: "what you see in the VFB is just a preview. It is not an accurate representation of the data included in the Cryptomatte element. Some visual artifacts may appear (e.g. when using motion blur and DOF), and the colors may not appear to be distributed correctly, but this does not affect the usability of the element in post-production."

Yep a cryptomatte plugin knows what to do with it. Not designed for manual masking by a human :-)

Hello Romullus, thanks for the reply but I am writing the post because I am in PS with exr open and I always see everything jagged in the channels created by opening, importing and separating EXR. What I see "colored" is the same that then automatically creates the crypto exr with separate channels.

The selection layer from cryptomatte (separate layer by exr) are jagged

What are you using to get the selection from the Cryptomatte element?
Photoshop's Selection\Colour Range, or even the eye-dropper tools are the wrong tool for the job.

You need to make sure that you're using a plugin designed to work the cryptomatte such as exr-io or ProExr to extract the masks.

sto usando EXR-IO con il livello automatico direttamente come maschera, esattamente i livelli creati di cryptomatte per tutti gli oggetti

translation: i am using EXR-IO with auto layer directly as mask, exactly the created layers of cryptomatte for all objects

Do note that using a selection etc. is not the way to go with cryptomatte layers; the layer in question should be pasted in as a mask for an Adjustment Layer.
