When opening a scene from a client there are missing Cosmos map files (TX extension format)
How do I easily locate and acquire these files?

I have an active Premium Chaos Corona licence and when I search in the Cosmos browser for the specific filename I get a negative result.
Later when the client tells me they use "Metal Grey 01" I am able to search in the browser and download the map assets.
But what if I do not have this higher level information for whichever model or material the missing TX maps files come from?

Help would be much appreciated.

Hello,

Even if the texture file is missing, you can still identify the cosmos assets from the previous texture path or see the name of the .vrmesh file or the naming of the CoronaProxy object in your 3D Scene.

When an asset is downloaded, it is placed inside a folder with the asset name, and the .vrmesh file that is loaded also has the same name as the downloaded asset. Even the imported Corona Proxy object name contains the name of the Cosmos Asset.

Once you have identified the cosmos asset, you can download it from the cosmos and get the missing texture file.

This method is only applicable if your client has not specifically changed the directory of an asset, its downloaded location from the Cosmos packages directory, or renamed the VRmesh file (Both in HDD and in 3dsMax). In such cases, you will need to request the maps directly from the client.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Avi,

Thankyou for your quick feedback. That makes a lot of sense.

This solution worked in my current situation and in most cases I believe.
I did have a one case when I couldn't identify the asset from the path as it had been stripped.

But this will work great going forward. Thanks.

Or, as Avi mentioned, possibly asking the client to send the scene archived with all assets (File > Archive) would be the easiest solution.
