Hi!

I am starting working with a scene with  row houses. It's one base model instanced next to each other and then mirrored, creating two paralel lines of houses. Everytime I tried to render it crashes, and I've isolated the problem to have the modifier "mirror+copy" applied. If I have a lot of houses no problem, if I create two copies, mirror one and then render no problem, it's only when "mirror" with "copy" activated.

Any ideas? It seems such a basic problem that I guess I'm not the first one to experience it, but I couldn't find anything in the forum.

I don't think it's Corona related problem. Just reset transforms of problematic object and it should be fine.

Hi Romullus, thanks for your answer. Sorry, I don't know what you mean with reset the transforms? (quite of a newbie here) The object is the model of the house, imported from Archicad. I haven't done anything with it yet, just mirroring it. The only render engine crashing is Corona, so I don't know if it's its "fault" but I believe it's a factor. I've started from scratch a couple of times to make sure I didn't do anything else, but that's it.

When you mirroring objects it's basically the same as scaling them to -100% on one axis. It is advisable to reset transforms after such operations. You can do this in Utilities panel Reset xform->Reset selected.

Hi again! Sorry for not answering, deadline pushing. Romullus, I tried that and didn't work, so I just didn't use copy when mirroring, and I had more individual objects in the scene. It would be nice to know what's wrong so I can do it faster next time, tough. Keymaster, I'm uploading a file with the house model right away. As said, it crashes only if I mirror+copy. It's a model imported from Archicad using the din3D plugin.

ok, I fixed it so it does not crash anymore, but it still produces wrong results. The problem is in the modifier, it produces invalid normals. I tested it with scanline and mental ray and got the same wrong results.

I'm not exactly sure what this case looks like but would it be possible to use "symmetry" modifier here?
